Top two teams will be Thief River Falls and Bemidji.
(Makes sense since they were 2 & 3 last year.)
#3 will be Warroad with a shot at #1.
#4 is Crookston and also a shot at #1.
Coming in at #5 will be East Grand Forks, who will not get to #1.
#6 will be LOW
then #7 will be either Red Lake Falls or Park Rapids
followed by Kittson Central, Walker and maybe Bagley.
so that would be:
Bemidji
Thief River Falls
Warroad
Crookston
East Grand Forks
Lake of the Woods
Park Rapids
Red Lake Falls
Kittson Central
Walker
Bagley
No need to get back to me in any sort of hurry, we have a half a year or so...

I think we all are in agreement that it is very early in the pre-season.
So lets get the ideas and then we can start changing things until we get it to the point we all disagree.
EGF losing their strength in their solid D.
Have Useldinger back unless the rumor of a northern move for the family becomes true.
Goaltending will be unsettled to start.
Decent bantam team coming in but no step-in guys.
Warroad could be right there, with Dane and some good returnees, #5 on D??, but not any immediate help coming out of bantams.
TRF, their bantam kids got experience this year, goaltending may be an issue (sophomore jinx although not a soph next year).
Park Rapids, no Lehrke, too many holes, BUT some kids experienced at winning.... could be worth something.
Bemidji: almost all sophomores and inexperienced juniors this last year.
Plus the addition of some quality kids off a very good bantam team, including a goalie that will push the senior goaltenders to play totheir ability or be replaced.

These are my preseason picks. They will change with time I'm sure.
1. Thief River Falls
2. Warroad
3. East Grand Forks
4. Bemidji
5. Crookston
6. Park Rapids
7. Lake of the Woods
8. Kittson Central
9. Red Lake Falls
10. Bagley
11. Walker
Since Roseau left after the 1996-1997 season, here are the section final participants.
2008 - Warroad over EGF
2007 - Warroad over TRF
2006 - TRF over Warroad
2005 - Warroad over TRF
2004 - Warroad over LOW
2003 - Warroad over TRF
2002 - EGF over Warroad
2001 - EGF over Crookston
2000 - Warroad over Crookston
1999 - EGF over TRF
1998 - EGF over Warroad
Either Warroad, EGF, or TRF has won. Only 3 times has there been a different team in the final besides the big 3. I don't see things changing too much next year. How about another TRF vs. Warroad final? I would love to see Bagley, Walker, RLF, or KC in the semi-finals next year. If there is a year it could happen, it could be next year.

#2 seed to somewhere below Walker....SiouxRecruit wrote:Elliott you really think no Lehrke will make that big of a difference....
hmmmmmm, may have a point there.......
'Yes', (with sarcasm in his acusurers eye) he replied.
'Lehrke was all PR, PR was all Lehrke. With him out of the way, Walker will breeze through the bottom feeders.'

PR will not be a factor, will not make it out of the QF's, if they make it to the QF.

Wow, this is so far off...
No way Bagley will finish ahead of Walker next year.

And I think Bemidji or/and Crookston will finish ahead of EGF next year.
Now, it we are doing the 2012-2013 season,
I'll take EGF, then TRF, then Crookston, and then maybe Warroad.

I agree with SB24, Warroad will have too much fire power returning. To be honest, i think they will be a better team without Ravendahlen. Sure he was a heckuva player, but he tried to do too much on his own. There was some talent playing with him this year that was left watching too often.
As far as TRF, Gothberg has the ability to win virtually any game by himself. Their season will depend on if they learn how to score a few goals.
Bemidji supposedly has some newcomers that should contribute, but there seems to be a bit of, how shall i say, a rocky foundation in that program? Might make it tough to be successful.
East Grand, lost too much, not much coming in.
As far as the rest, sorry, but it really isn't going to matter.

The Greenwave will be green next year at many postions alot of the bantams will have to step in. goaltending will be a big issue also. Elliot the Useldinger rumor is the first I've heard of this??? I would be very very very surprised if this is even a thought in family's mind. This is will not happen.elliott70 wrote:I think we all are in agreement that it is very early in the pre-season.

I'm sure he'd be a welcome addition, but i haven't heard anything pointing that direction. Someone in the roseau thread said there would be some new faces on the team next year...maybe they meant new from JV or Bantams, but they also said there is no better place to play than in Roseau, so i can't imagine Dinger would want to go play for Warroad

I don't know about 2012-13 season yet but 2008-09 will unveil an improved Pirate team. Next year's scoring should look something like this. If so, the Fleet of Eights will need to be organized by someone else.
