Had a lot of points this year and had a great tournament....does anyone know what his future hockey plans consist of?

I've heard he may be going to St. John's. Don't know the validity on that.

I heard a year of JR's maybe. In any event. I saw the STA- Hill game at the X in FEB. And the State Tourney last week. This kid is fun to watch. Great hands and he's like trying to knock over a bowling ball. I think some schools are going to regret not picking this kid up. His day is coming.

I heard Providence may have some interest. I too saw this kid a few times this year. He's got a boatload of talent and a heart to match. Works his tail off. If he's got a weakness, maybe skating but his work ethic makes up for it. If i'm coach Lucia i'm on the phone with this kids dad yesterday. From what i've seen he's got more heart than the anything Lucia's got currently..

I agree. Saintey is fun to watch. Great hands and solid on his skates. It was exciting to watch Walters, Saintey and Rooney light up the scoreboard this year. Last I heard Walters was going to the USHL, but I haven't heard about Rooney. Where is he playing? You would think a guy with 60pts would catch on somewhere.

Maybe if he played a tougher schedule he'd get looked at more.

Not sure. I know St Thomas & St. Johns are usually attractive to both sides as alot of the Cadet players are very good students as well. Rooney's another kid, from what I saw that put's up big #'s skates well and doesn't look real big in stature but plays like a monster.. You don't read alot about the Cadet's, but i for one was very impressed when i watched them. I talked to a hockey buddy the other day who knows a few of the Cadet players and he says not only do they have a great team, but there very poilte and well mannered kids. I saw that with the their student section at the tourney.. Some of those cheers were hillarious.

RBK-Why don't you put your Leggo's down and come back when you can say something that makes sense?? Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't the Cadet's Beat Benilde-And Blaine both of which were in the AA bracket AND lose to Hill twice in OT?. I think they also played Tonka and Roseau maybe. Anyways doesn't matter. Try being NOT jealous once and maybe say Good for him OR Hey this kid can play. Guys like you are so uninformed..

I don't think Sainty will go anywhere, except for the JV team on a division 3 school. I don't think he is that great of a talent and it helps when you have great playmakers around you. The kid can pass... and when in the right situation, can put the puck away. But everyone can do that at the D1 level with alot more speed, and alot more size. He's a little plump for juniors too.

I don't know how much validity your word holds. I thought you said you were done for the year?

How about the state tournament? They played 3 quality teams and put up big points. Walters had 9pts in 3 games, Saintey and Rooney each had 7pts in 3 games. Strength of schedule doesn't get much stronger than the state tourney.

But he is rarely knocked off his skates.

And when you say that he is in the right place at the right time....well for some darned reason he seemed to be in the right place at the right time through his whole high school career. Being not very tall he managed to hold his own quite nicely through the seasons. I think his lack of size went to his advantage because he can sneak into the back door and such.

Maybe he doesn't have Gaborik type of speed, but he handles the puck quite nicely and makes things happen, kind of Pierre-Marc Bouchard style of play, so to say.

Exactly. T.O.T.L I love you man.. There's a reason he's in the right place at the right time. It's called Hockey Sense/Vision. Point is from what i can see this kid has proved year in and year out he can play with and against anyone and still score. I don't have any solid #'s but i would be willing to bet Mr. Sainty scored big goals against the better teams as well..

he got 2 goals in the last HM game. I guess you could say he got the hat trick, but that third one technically went off of his skate in hills favor, which then won the game for them, haha.

Either way, I think it would be nice for him to end up going to a decent school and do some damage for them.

I've been curious myself to see neither of these two on any lists all year. Both getting all state honorable mention should count for something. I'm guessing neither will be in the NHL in 4 years (sorry guys) so D3 would be a way to continue hockey and your education right away. Not sure about St John's, but I'm pretty sure St Thomas takes a lot of their athletes right out of high school, instead of the USHL as many D3 programs doThey are both very talented boys, hopefully they will be in some uniform next year.

Its okay mr. Saintey you can stop talking your kid up now. But anyways all im saying is that the reason he isnt getting HEAVILY recruited is because of that reason..he played a mediocre class A schedule and is just not as good as you think Syrus. If he grew a couple more inches..or maybe 5 or 6 he would def. be getting heavily recruited or at least a lot more looks. And to the person who thinks Mr. Lucia should be on the phone with Saintey's father yesterday...i dont think Lucia would mind if he didnt get "Mr. Saintey"...i think he is satisfied with his incoming recruits, yeah i'd have to say he would take Youso over him, or better yet Hansen, or better yet Schroeder. Enough said Thanks though for your time \:D/

He's not getting recruited by any D1 schools for a reason- too small and not a good enough skater. Also, looking at what most of these high school kids have done with their bodies through weights and work-outs you have to wonder if he has the same off season work ethic as those that are going on to the next level. That being said, he does have great hands and hockey sense/vision as mentioned by a previous poster, with those I could see him probably playing D3.

RBK don't kid yourself. Saintey is a heck of a player and has the biggest heart as anyone on the ice. I am sure he will continue his hockey career somewhere whether it be Division 3 or Juniors. I think you might be a little bitter that he left Rosemount to go play at STA. I think it was a good choice just ask James I bet he will let you hold his ring.

I doubt he will grow much more to be honest. His older brothers are both rather short (and were/ are both good hockey players if I might add).

The way I see it, Martin St. Louis and Brian Gionta give kids like James hope to some day make it into the NHL. I am sure he will do very fine at any D-3 school. It would be cool to see him somehow go D-1 though.

James is an awesome player. He has proven it evrey year. As a sophomore he was all lake conferrence with Rosemount. This year all metro 3 rd team; all tourney ;60+ points. Last year was an embarassement he did not get on the all tourney team leading STA in scoring in the STATE TOURNEY.

I have watched the USHL this year James could play just fine. Dakota Eveland at Omaha is a whole 146 pounds and he did just fine in the USHL. There are however 40 Minnesota kids I would take before him that have not even been drafted by a USHL team, But because he comes from that hockey hotbed of California where if a kid scores 100 plus points against his age from Alabama. Missipippi and some where in Idaho he looks like a star.

James would run circles around this kid. He has some of the best hands in the state. His vision is unbelievable. He makes plays. Ask Walters I bet he was in coaches office everyday asking to get him back on his line. He can finish and he rises to the occassion every big game.

When he was a 1990 blade for 6-7 years. It was Schroeder, Sainty then A. Lee who dominated that team tournament in and tournament out.

I know UMD has interest and so do some Junior teams.
Mark my words after a year of juniors this young man can play D1 and many coaches will regret they didn't make a move.

Plus with all the hockey talent if you ever met him he is a class act off the ice.

Plus any one notice how humble he was in his TV interviews giving all the credit to Rooney and Walters.

He will be a top player in the WCHA by his junior year.
I will take all bets

I have a lot of respect for Saintey, i think he plays the game right way with a lot of heart and makes up for his size with the passion he plays with. Had 3 years of good numbers in varsity hockey, including in the Lake Conference.

I was told he doesn't have an idea right now, maybe a year of juniors and then see if he can get a scholarship somewhere. This is coming straight from Jimmy himself also.
