This is a tough call for the Pioneer Press, damned if you do, damned if you don't. But yeah, there should have been some changes on these teams.

I think that there were so many good players this season that no matter how they picked them, someone would have been left off.

No Barnes? No Brown? Bo Budish? No Everson? No Eddy? No Student? No Furne? Zepeda not even honorable mention? Hendrickson not even honorable mention? O'Neill not even honorable mention? O'Donnell not even honorable mention? McManus not even honorable mention? Bohrer not even honorable metnion? Muller not even honorable mention? Leiverman's not even the best player on his team!!
I don't get it.
Did you ever watch Mankato West? Leivermann didn't score more points than Ricky Litchfield, but he is five times the overall player of Litchfield. Litchfield is a great scorer. He has great speed. Leivermann is a great scorer, he plays on both ends of the ice, he finished his checks and he's a better passer. Not to mention that he would have finished with more points than Litchfield had he not missed four+ games during the season.

Yes I watched West twice this year. Litchfield is better.

Is that why Leivermann has already committed to a WCHA school and Litchfield is still looking for a school to offer him something?

That's almost entirely based on potential, not how good they are right now. JT Brown is a Mr. Hockey finalist and AA's second leading scorer still hasn't committed. James Saintey doesn't have a D1 offer even though he has 68 points on a state championship team. Matt Bergland didn't have a D1 iffer until after the section finals, even though he finished this year as the leading scorer (70 points) on the #3 team in the state. It's not all about college.

I have been watching both these kids for the last 4 years. I think early on I felt Litchfield was the better player. But as they have developed Leivermann is the better two way hockey player. But I would love to see Litchfield in a MSU jersey too.

I have been watching West play for years and they have a very good group of kids. Leivermann has grown into a great all around player and captain. But I am very disappointed to see that Litchfield the leading scorer in the regular season throughout the state wasn't even an honorable mention. These two young gentlemen work off each other and have their whole lives. It seamed either Corey scored and Ricky set it up or the opposite. MSU would capitalize with these two someday playing with each other, especaily for a team they have idolized since they first began to skate.

I've watched these two alot this past year and played with them in previous years. They are a great duo and if MSU takes a shot a to put these two together again it could be something special, or at the least fill up the alltel center with some local fans. Not every player that plays is D-1 is always successful, but I think Litchfield might be a guy that you might want to take that chance with. Being that he is a great playmaker and he can put the puck on anyones stick. Corey is the pure goal scorer and plays stellar defense. Litchfield can go both ways, but he has to decide he wants to all game long, that may be his downfall. Hopefully the Great 8 with help him or after a year of juniors, but for now I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
