This whole north/south thing I just don't get. In 1980 with all the MINNESOTANS on the team nobody seemed to care if they came from the north or the south. To me this a minnesota tourney, we should appreciate a good club regardless of where in the state they come from.

I guess you didn't live on the Range then, when everyone was pointing out all the kids from the area that were playing on the USA Hockey team that beat the Russians!

Can anyone get Mark Pavelich to come out of his Jippo shack and respond to this?!!! :P

Hill's played 2 great games and benefitted from some questionable officiating. Edina's mucked their way through 2 games doing just enough to win. I have a hunch the 1st, 3rd, and 5th place winners will all come from the bottom bracket.

Teams who upset their way through sections rarely continue that in the state tournament. East or Anoka would have made for a better tournament, Cloquet deserved to be there though.

1AA will get blasted again but they played Hill much tighter than Roseau did. (Roseau beats South 10 out of 10) The officials deciding to never put Hill 2 men down though they deserved it a ton in that game was the difference.

Through 2 days and 6 games, there's been 1 real good game in Edina/Benilde and 1 decent game in Hill/South. The rest have been yawners other than getting a bit worked up over the loss of control the refs had in the Roseau/Hill game.

There were some southern boys playin as well, Ramsey, Christoff, McClanahan, Stroebel, Janezek. I thought they were all great, even if some did grow up north of Hwy 2. Besides are Roseau and Warroad part of the range? Lets just appreciate all Minnesota players, north or south.

Seeding assists the best teams into the semi and final games. I'd rather see that than have the 2 best play off in a quarter final. There is nothing unfair about it. It is based upon their record up until that point.

By the way- the officiating was biased in the Roseau/Hill game. Only it was the reverse of what you said. I thought that they made those northern boys tough up there? You shoulda seen the Hill/White Bear section final which was very similar to last night and only 1 penalty was called all game.

What a fair weather hockey fan. Seeding assists the best teams into the semi and final games. I'd rather see that than have the 2 best play off in a quarter final.

I thought the officiating was adequate. Hill Murray was definitely playing what I call Taliban hockey--hitting after the play was over etc... I'd rather see the officials let some of the physcial play go than calling something every time there is contact. I don't think Roseau was used to be physically attacked like this and it detracted from their puck movement game--especially in the neutral zone.

Since when was the cutoff Hwy 2?

If we're going to open things up...let's just appreciate all players throughout the world, east or west, north or south! Praise be to my Canadien brothers!!!! :D

Excellent observation. It seemed like HM knew they could get away with anything while shorthanded. In my opinion it was a huge factor in the outcome.
