Kangas is one of the main reasons that the Gophers have gotten as far as they have. He has stood on his head every game in the Final 5 and also against the Mavericks to get there.

Kangas comes from an athletic family. His brother Jordan is a good baseball player and his father coaches @ Century & the Rochester A's. I met them at a baseball tournament last summer in North St. Paul and they were very friendly.

One of the main reasons???? How about Kangas is the only reason the Gophers are where they are. Without him they would have been done long, long ago. He is really playing well. Hard to believe that it took a half season to start him every game. The season could have gone a little differently with Kangas in net from the beginning.

What's wrong with where they're at right now? Granted, the season wasn't as successful as some would've liked, but they're in the exact position they wanted to be in. The Goph's may not win it all this year, but they're playing with heart & emotion, and sometimes that's enough. Add a stud tender like Kangas right now and anything can happen. Personally, I'd rather see the Gophers play their best hockey at the end of the season rather than at the beginning as has happened in recent years.

I think you're taking my post wrong GR3343. My point was that with Kangas in net, they could have won some additional games and not have been put in the region they are in, playing who they are playing, and they would not have had to press to make the tourney. That's all. Kangas is playing great.

Kangas is a complete stud right now. I'm not overly optimistic about the Gophers draw in the playoffs but you never know. Looks like Frazee is going to be pulling splinters for the rest of his collegiate career.

Is his brother a junior there this year? I am pretty sure i saw the family saturday down at the Xcel center before the game with possibly a girlfriend? or else an older sister? with them, they seemed really nice and just to contribute something new, when i saw him in high school i said he was gonna be a great goalie and was suprised it took so long for someone to jump on him. I knew at the beginning of the season that he was gonna be something special for the gophs and hope that it can continue in regions and even into the frozen four (4 WCHA team frozen four is possible again this year :D).

No worries, but I do think the Gophs ended up in the best possible region for them. BC is another Jekyl & Hyde team, and I'm not overly impressed with Miami. Minnesota has the makeup of a true underdog in this tourney, and if they can get past BC, they've got a better than average shot. Especially with the way Kangas is playing. Brick wall, anyone?

Kangas is one of the most emotionally level goalies I have ever seen. If he can keep that going for him, and he continues to add to his talent, he is going to be a fantastic goalie for a long time.

I have heard a lot of talk about Joe Howe, but that likely wouldn't be till 09-10.

I think his brother is a Junior this year. I don't know if he's a hockey player though I remember when Century made the state tournament and didn't hear the name.
