Anybody heard of "Team Fury"?
I heard that they have a tryout on Monday Night at the Xcel (for Metro area Players), as well as Sunday at Wakota (for Outstate Players). I guess they are basically just a tourney team for the invitational tourneys.

CHITOWN

Post by jancze5 »

There are a few 94 Minnesota based teams heading to the CHITOWN shuffle in Chicago 18-20 April. Those that play Compuware and the Mission will get a true taste of top AAA hockey, as they are the 1-2 ranked 94 AAA teams in the country for the 2nd straight year.

TEAM MIDWEST played solid hockey all last summer, winning a bunch of tourneys, nice group of players
NORTHERN EDGE lost 18-0 to the Mission a year ago, hopefully will avoid them or have improved the roster
BLADES loads of talent, should be interesting spring for this group
WATERLOO BLACKHAWKS loaded with top end players, will be tough physical team, Defensive scoring punch
NORTHSTARS split of Icemen with some new talent, good coaching should bring this group up to par quickly

A week later, the Meltdown goes down. Should be 2 weekends of great hockey.

Christian Bros

Christian Bros has a good 94 open team but they are not a invitational level team. The top players that skate with them in the summer for training, play on one of the teams mentioned above for the invite tournaments.

Loads of talent may be a stretch, if AJ and Skjei are playing for Jr Stars in Chicago, balance could shift

94 Blades

Post by 54fighting »

Two players will shift the balance? No two players, not even two as good as those two are will shift any balance of power. If I remember right the 94 Icemen had those two players along with a good chunk of the kids that are on the Jr Stars and they struggled to beat anyone last year.

Until someone goes out and proves it on the ice you still have to put the Blades at the top of the heap.

don't

Post by jancze5 »

I don't know how you can say "shift of balance" when clearly there are a handful of solid 94 aaa spring/summer teams. Anyone of these teams can take anyone of the others on any given day. It should be a great spring of hockey.

94 AAA Teams

Post by Night Train »

Michaelson & Skjei are currently listed on the 1994 Blades roster. Are you saying they are not 94 Blades? Playing with the North Stars this off season?

There are close to 20 1994 "Independent" AAA teams this summer in the metro area alone. Are they all AAA Tier 1 caliber? No. Currently I'll grant 1 team, the Blades, that status with Team Midwest not far behind. After that it's all mud for now as they've all diluted one another. Let's call all others AA for now, they'll like that.

Well, some of this will get answered at the Chitown shuffle..

Blades and Team Midwest square off to open the tournament.
N'stars and Waterloo will matchup as well.

Should be 2 very good hockey games.

Do you mean the '94 Knights? If so, they are not new this year and have been beating by '95 AAA teams in tournaments last summer. They do have a few good kids on the team, but are young '94's who played pee-wee this winter.

The Pembina Valley Hawks are in the Meltdown. Should be
an early indicator of the Top 94 teams for the summer.

This year there seems to be more US kids on this team, I think we counted 8 or 9 from Grafton, Grand Forks, Fargo, and East Grand Forks.

This is based on the usual locker room talk from my son and asking other parents, I can let you know for sure when I see a roster.

Is there a link to the Meltdown?

Who are the ND kids and how did the Canadians pick or find them, any Minn kids?
