Livan hanging 'em early.

Cargo and Mauer put some nice early pressure on Weaver.

Somebody tell Craig Monroe he is playing for the Twins. After he struck out he took two steps towards the first base dugout.

Did you see Gardy's quote about Hunter and the four game series?
"I love the guy and I hope he goes 0-16"

I've never been so happy to see Torii strike out.

Nice opener Twins!

-Cargo doing what a leadoff man needs to do
-Livan keeps the score down turns it over to the bullpen

Good start BUT:

1. I counted 3 times they left a guy on 3rd with less than 2 outs.

2. Weaver made 2 bad mistakes early that turned into lazy flyballs....one to Monroe.

3. Morneau looks clueless

4. Cuddyer is not a good enough hitter to bat #3

5. One extra base hit by Gomez and nothing else hit hard to the gap or close to going out except that one down the line late in the game.

CarGo was fun to watch and that should be a confidence builder for him. He struck out late on ball 4 but he knew it which is good. He will make fans forget Hunter quickly.

Livan was impressive. The D was tight.

Good win but they need to HIT THE BOOFIN BALL better

Correctamundo, and I'll add, look no further than the bottom of the first. The first two batters put a charge into the ball, Weaver starts nibbling and Cuddyer & Morneau both get ahead 2-0 on the count. Neither does anything with it.

he is no Sidney Ponson, but....

Livan out dueled a pretty good pitcher in Weaver,......and didn't throw it harder than 85 mph (some in the 60's mph). Tony Oliva was excited about the acquistion of Hernandez at Twinsfest. If you can't trust Tony O,.....who can you trust.

PB,.....you don't get bonus points for a mutiple point win. 3-2 is fine,.....keeps everyone sharp, too. :)

The position players of this team look good. If the starters can keep'em close, this team will be very competitive.

Cargo is going to be a treat,......Cesar Tovar, all over again.

P.S. PB and IS,...you guys are "nibbling". This was agood win,......enjoy. :)

Knowlzee,

We cant help it. If we were reviewing the game with the team afterwards, thats what we would say.

In a 162 game schedule if you leave guys out there and dont hit well in situations , you will lose that game 4-3 way more times than you will win it 3-2.

We cant relax and enjoy the win, we've got another one to get them through tonight.

Only 161 to go.

Banter,...only banter. We enjoy the "nibbling". :)

Lets hope Boof can keep it close, tonight. He has been known to "nibble" in the past. Go after'em Boof.

Peas and moan, peas and moan. Its like listening to the wife.

Some mornings its hardly worth chewing through the straps eh packerboy?

There'll be time for carping, but this isn't it.

Just drink the kool-aid and everything will be fine for awhile.

Go Twins! Go skinny Boof!

Oh yeah, well here is what me and my Aunt Gertrude think of your Kool Aid:

Image

Oh sure, a wins a win but if Cuddyer keeps taking strike 3 down the middle with a guy on 3rd and one out and the infield back, those wins will turn into losses quick.

In the mean time, keep dreamin about this:
