ANY GOLF COURSES OPEN??????

Post by SEMinnHockeyNut »

Hey....does anyone know of any golf course with 2-3 hours of Rochester that might be open or opening soon????

I know this is crazy with snow, etc...but some courses get you out there early if the snow melts.

I have a long streak of at least one round in March I am trying to protect.

I got this e-mail from Stonebrooke in Shakopee on Thursday...

"The driving range will open tomorrow, Saturday at 11:00 am. Waters Edge Golf Course will open Monday, March 31 at 11:00 am. Stonebrooke Golf Club will open Friday, April 4th at 9:00 am, weather permitting. You will be able to make online tee times beginning on Monday."

Thanks for the info Govs.

I have to be in Winona by 4PM tomorrow, so I think the streak of at least one round in March is broken. I am disappointed, but Mother Nature is not helping, especially with more snow in the forecast down here.

My home course is usually the 1st to open down here, but it is hilly and has too much snow still....I guess chip shots in my backyard is what I had to settle for.....for now anyway.

If anyone hears of anything, let me know- THANKS!

SE keep the faith...
We were in the Dells over the weekend w/ the kids, and it rained the whole way back through LaCrosse, and the first site of snow was when we came back into Rochester. Might check out La Crosse and SW Wisconsin, very little snow, and I don't think it turned to snow at all yesterday?...
Obviously, we got a little more snow in Rochester later, but the sun is out today, so you missed March, but I see getting out in the next week... :D

Well I 'finally' got out today....played nine holes in Rochester.
First ball went in the sumac on my way to a triple bogey....had a bad 9th hole, but take those two holes away and I was only 2 over par!

I hit my irons like crazy....five greens in regulation - five pars!

Oak Marsh is open and Manitou Ridge might be also. I know schools were able to get out to these two courses but I am not sure on the public yet. I heard Oak Marsh is a marsh though. might want to bring the rubber boots

Oak Marsh is very wet. I would recommend trying to find somewhere else. Maybe Manitou, but that is probably very wet and mushy as well. It is golf though, so there is enjoyment with the fact of playing the first round of the season and getting out there....regardless of the weather.

Should be pretty nice later in the week though, so I would imagine a ton of courses will open by next week or the weekend after.

Snow free down south for the most part...there was snow in sandtraps and on northside slopes, but not too bad.

I saw people at the municipal courses in Rochester, as well as Oak Summit. I am assuming many others are open as well.

Too bad the weather stinks this week....Wed will be 50 - good walking weather - I will be out there!
