If this were Europe, I'd be impressed by the soccer partpower92 wrote:Blake Dressen (Blake) was/ is Capt. of the Soccer team (lost to D. Marshall in Finals), Capt. of the Hockey team( 2 state appearances), will also be a major player on Blake's LAX team.
I think he is playing soccer and hockey at Colby.
Good example.
Everyone hates private schools (and Edina)!!

Chris Weinke did play hockey - in fact, he scored the winning OT goal in the section final against S. St. Paul as a sophomore (1988?) to put Cretin in the State Tourney. He signed with the Blue Jays organization out of high school and played four or five years of minor league baseball, before enrolling at Fla. State. Won the National Championship and the Heisman - then a few years in the NFL....pretty good resume'

Mauer DID not play hockey. However, if for nothing else than to showcase what a freak he was, I will list a few of his accomplishments.
Basketball:
3 time all conference, All-State Senior Year
Football:
3 year starter, 2 times metro player of year, Gatorade national player of year his senior year and #1 ranked recruit in the nation. Still has a scholarship at Florida State.
Baseball:
3 time all-state, #1 overall pick in draft, State championship sophomore and senior year. 1 strikeout in three years.
If you think about it, he was rated the best player in the nation his age at two sports (football and baseball)! That's absurd. To bad he played basketball instead of hockey. Who does that?

Paul Martin was a pretty good athlete, All Confrence twice in baseball and football set a single game recieving record and he obviously was a good hockey player. Could have went D1 in all three sports. also was one of the best basketball players in the state for his age before choosing to play hockey in highschool.

Not true, he was in the minors for a few yearsHShockeywatcher wrote:He didn't play hockey, but Joe Mauer is the probably the best all around athlete Minnesota has had in a really, really long time. Could've played D1 in three different sports, instead went to the pros in one of them; didn't sit in the minors at all.
