Hey ladies snap up those helmets and face guards tight and put your mouth gaurds in even in practice.
One of the top HS players on the eastside is recovering from a Level 3 concussion from a collision at spring CODP. All innocent enough but no mouthgaurd and and a loose helmet have knocked this player out of Phase tryouts - she was an NDP player last year.
As parents and coaches we probably need to take this as another reason to get our kids to do the right thing.....but players do the right and protect yourself....this player faces a 4 week or longer recovery.

All too often kids are out on the ice with equipment that isn't up to snuff. I've seen way too many kids with cages that do not fit correctly, and a good shot will send the bottom of the cage into the throat. The chin should rest in the chin cup, and the cage should be up against the stops.
Aside from helping disperse concussion causing energy that could be transmitted through the jaw in a knock to the head, mouth guards also protect the lips, tongue and cheeks from getting bit in an impact.

Who got hurt? I've watched all of the ODP sessions and never saw anything bad.joehockey wrote:Hey ladies snap up those helmets and face guards tight and put your mouth gaurds in even in practice.
