In the spirit of opening day at the Masters...
The True Rules Of Golf
If you want to get better at golf, go back and take it up at a much earlier age.
Since bad shots come in groups of three, a fourth bad shot is actually the beginning of the next group of three.
When you look up and cause an awful shot, you will always look down again at exactly the moment when you ought to start watching the ball if you ever want to see it again.
No matter how bad you are playing, it is always possible to play worse.
When your shot has to carry over a water hazard, you can either hit one more club or two more balls.
Golfers who claim they don't cheat, also lie.
If you're afraid a full shot might reach the green while the foursome ahead of you is still putting out, you have two options: you can immediately shank a lay-up, or you can wait until the green is clear and top a ball halfway there.
The less skilled the player, the more likely he is to share his ideas about the golf swing.
It's not a gimme if you're still away.
Everyone replaces his divot after a perfect approach shot.
A golf match is a test of your skill against your opponent's luck.
It's surprisingly easy to hole a 50-foot putt when you lie 10.
Non chalant putts count the same as chalant putts.
There are two kinds of bounces: unfair bounces, and bounces just the
way you meant to play it.
Every time a golfer makes a birdie, he must subsequently make two triple bogeys to restore the fundamental equilibrium of the universe.
If you want to hit a 7-iron as far as Tiger Woods does, simply try to lay up just short of a water hazard.
To calculate the speed of a player's downswing, multiply the speed of his backswing by his handicap. Example: backswing 20 mph, handicap 15, downswing 600 mph.
You can put "draw" on the ball, you can put "fade" on the ball, but no golfer can put "straight" on the ball.
A ball you can see in the rough from 50 yards away is not yours.
If there is a ball on the fringe and a ball in the bunker, your ball is the one in the bunker.
If both balls are in the bunker, yours is in the footprint.

Ditto on tomorrow...Irishmans Shanty wrote:I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
Can the South African perform with the burden of having the lead going into Sunday?
-11 is leading but what score will win?
Will someone come out of nowhere?
Tiger's gameplan?
Immelman will have to do something very difficult tomorrow to win, and that is shoot something in the 60's for the 4th straight day... If Trevor shoots a 69 or better, he will be wearing the green jacket

Yes, someone or someones will post a couple very good scores, but will that be any one of the three trailers (2,3,4) that have not won a major...

Tiger has to post some birdies early to put the fear into those above him... He has not birdied many holes on the front this year... Those behind him on the board feel they have nothing to lose and will be gambling to shoot low, and that is where a couple of the low scores will come from...
Masters on Sunday, I really hope that Tiger brings his A game tomorrow! He makes it so much more fun to watch when he is in contention...
Its funny, 10 years ago I would root against him, today i am firmly behind him

It was a dissappointing final round Masters because the wind yesterday prevented any really good scores from being posted.
From an entertainment standpoint the Masters is usually pretty good because guys can score and birdies and eagles are put up to win. Sure , disaster is lurking in Ray's Creek but I like the Masters because it can provide the excitement of winnig golf shots unlike the US Open which is often just a battle of atrition.
Not yesterday but still fun to watch.

Well said Neut!!!! It was a very boring Sunday of Golf, it was all the S. Africans.Neutron 14 wrote:A Masters Sunday without a charge makes for rather boring viewing. Except for the hiccup on 16, Immelman had a wonderful tournament. Gomer Snedeker was fun to watch until he melted in the wind and pressure...
I know but the EPL match between Arsenal and Manchester United more than made up for it!Indians forever wrote:Well said Neut!!!! It was a very boring Sunday of Golf, it was all the S.
