College Interest - Top Seniors Left

Post by money »

Good morning,

Any ideas where some of the top state players may be leaning toward making a college commitment? Pretty late in the game and so far no word on where these kids are going (I am sure there a ton of others):

DeCenzo - Hibbing
Jake Johnson - Denfeld
Stafne - Denfeld
Jokinen - CEC
Brown - CEC
JT Brown - Rosemount
Moser/Nelson - Roseau
McCarthy - BSM
Furne - Hill
Cecka - Hill
Thorson - Armstrong

If anybody knows, please let all of us know.
Thanks,

DeCenzo has been offered a scholarship to play at Vermont but is sitting on that and waiting for a WCHA offer more than likely

Jake Johnson turned down UMD a year or so ago but I don't know about where he'll end up. Probably out east or at an Omaha Nebraska type school.

Stafne is being looked at hard by UMD and recently vistied the U.

Jokinen was offered from Fairbanks but turned them down and will play juniors this year and hopefully play in the WCHA.

Brown's been contacted by a few schools but none have offered him anything serious.

JT Brown has an offer with UMD on the table (I believe) I've heard he's waiting for an offer from the U.

The others I believe have been contacted by teams but not offered anything significant and will more than likely play juniors and then get picked up by a D1 school.

Thanks for the info. By and large, looks like most of the players are in a "wait and see" mode. That makes sense. They all probably have some kind of offers or at least ideas where they would like to go...but, now it is wait and see what offers do come.

Take care,

Yes they are pretty much waiting to see how the Great 8, eXposure, and junior tryouts pan out for them

But one change on the list is that Chris Stafne is officially comitted to UMD now and it is no longer a rumor.

Re: Stafne

Any official confirmation regarding this. :?: :?:
I saw somwhere (Blog site or something) that it was premature that Stafne was a Dog. Please let us know if you have a link or how you know this.

Thanks,

I don't think it's on any of the recruiting sites yet but I spoke to him and his father last night. They said that yesterday they made it official.

Thanks for the update.
Well...there you go! Stafne to UMD. I know he put up big #'s his senior year. Haven't seen him play...looking forward to seeing him play at the Great 8 tourney here in a week and half.

Thanks again Oldbarn7.

I believe, these people have signed already.
Jokinen will be going to Mankato for next year.
Stafne will be going to UMD after a year or two of juniors.
DeCenzo will be going to Vermont after a year or juniors.

Saw today David Brown, Rob Johnson and Joe Krause (did he replace Jokinen? all made Chicago SHowcase for Team Minnesota. Don't know a thing about the Krause kid, never watched Hermantown play, not sure he is at same level as some of the kids listed

Krause is a decent player hard worker. Yes he took Jokinen's spot on the showcase team being he couldn't play in it. I heard they did good against New York today to.
