Best Summer Hockey Camp

I'm trying to find out the best hockey camp in the state. I know a lot of folks have personal views, but putting those aside, any thoughts? I sent my son to UND two years ago and it is cheap and good but I wasn't real impressed.

Save your money. Make a slide board, make some russian boxes and shoot alot of pucks in the driveway. Unless your going just for some fun

Not bad advise!

Got a hill around you house? get to know it from top to bottom several times a week.

Shoot pucks, weight train, do it with a partner and push each other.

As far as Camps I've never been to http://www.mnhockeycamps.com/ but I have heard good things about it.

My opinion is you would do better with a sustained training program you do yourself, in conjunction with your HS's summer program. Lot's cheaper.

ok, here's an answer, not a a debate (yes the dollar v. development ratio is not as good as all the free things you can do at the homestead). for someone who has a kid who wants to skate at a camp out of town:

Michigan Tech Development Camp. toss it in google and see for yourself. i've had sons go there several times. the combination of enjoyment and good hockey training is the best i have found within a reasonable drive (6.5 hours from the metro).

like said above. MN hockey camps is the best camp in north america, they will whip you into shape in 3 weeks. GREAT owners and know what they are doing. you skate twice a day but as known Weights and Plyos are the main focus in the summer and will help build your leg strength. also there are alot of high level scouts/ coaches so you also get exposure. I remeber being up there on the Saturday game and see Lucia and other WCHA coaches at the scrimmages watching kids.

First class camp run by First Class people. cant beat it. Money is worth it,

Not a good camp if your looking for some and chill camp though. They will work you and you wont be able to feel your legs all week.

I agree, this camp is amazing and if you could do it more than one week in a summer it will help your game a lot.....i beleive that TJ Oshie went to it last year

I think a little research will show how the development of many quality hockey players was assisted by spending time at Minnesota Hockey Camps. However, just like any camp - it will take a lot of hard work and multiple sessions to see marked improvement. It has proven to be a worthy Camp well worth the cost and effort.

Just came across an interesting article about a former Minnesota Hockey camp attendee. If you read down a bit you will note he remarks how the camp affected his playing ability.

Good article...seems like the camp really pushed him.

Was it the good camp or the 7 weeks? "Malone, who gave up a promising baseball career to concentrate on hockey, went for seven weeks that first time."

Here is another article on Ryan Malone. It looks like he spent all summer except for the 2 weeks up north training at the Velocity Hockey Center in Eden Prairie. There are many other NHL players training there now.
