is it possible

Can the district directors that represent their associations contact them for support? Our association can send a e-mail to ALL of our members that have a e-mail registered w/ us... like 99% of them.... Simply stating

" contact this person at >>>>>>>>> " Would the district directors that voted "no" do that? Should they ? I feel they should as MN Hockey does not have CNN, WCCO, or Sid to get the news out, and saying I voted "NO" is not good enough... we, MN Hockey needs more ELLIOTTs

I guess I'm confused on one point? If the D6 DD didn't want to vote for this move, why on earth would his substitue vote for it? I know Elliott said that the measure passed by 1 vote, so if the D6 DD didn't want to vote for it, shouldn't his vote be counted as so? If I am not understanding this correctly can someone enlighten me? Please...

I believe Jim bullard, controller, voted no.

Barry Ford is the VP of hockey operations.

Brad Hewitt is the D6 DD.
He made the mistake of being vocal about his position against this at teh maroon directors meeting on Wed before the state meeting. His asst in D6 was instructed to vote no and felt that was the right thing to do.

For some reason the asst did not show up all weekend.
On Sunday morning, Tom salrid emailed Brad and asked if he should step in. Brad said fine, not thinking (he was out of town for work - he owns his own business) that specifically abou this issue.
Tom Slaird, said he agreed with Mark Elliott (as dis Greg Nagan and John Perry) but just ahd to vote for it.

My motion to table died for lack of a second.

I can only shake my head.
I am waiting for the minutes to confirm everyone's voting, but I know the DD from 1, 2, 3, 6 & 11 voted yes for sure.
8, 10, 5, 16 voted against.
12 was not there which is always the case.

4, 15 - I am pretty sure that 15 voted no.

So no votes came from
D5
D8
D10
D15
D16
Controller
VP Hockey Operations
to my best recollection.

Yes votes came from
D1
D2
D3
D4
D6
D11
VP planning (Dave Bakke)
VP publicity (Dave Meisner)
VP tournaments (Bill Gable)
Adult men (Dave Swenson)**
Adult women (Patt Ligman)**
HS Girls (Tim Morris)**
VP gold (Jerry DeMeo now sec-treas)
VP maroon (Dave Margeneau)
sec-treas (Phil Graber - now no longer on the board)
Junior diredctor (Bob Breau)**
referee in chief (Eric Olson)**

** Why these people are allowed to vote on youth matters is beyond me.
We have no vote on anything they do within their group.
I asked Dennis Green to look at his at a meeting about 1 year ago.
He said that it was a good idea to change it and gave it to planning.
(and that was the death of that idea)

Technical issue

Post by 21troll »

In The Minnesota Hockey Bylaws, it states the District Director needs to notify the Secretary of MH of the alternate. I would assume the D6 director, Mr. Hewitt ( great guy ) notified MH Hockey that his first alternate would be taking his place. But the third alternate? I doubt the D6 director had time on Sunday morning to submit in writing his alternate before the vote.

Therefore, could this vote on the issue be challenged since proper notification was not submitted to the secreatary of MH according to the bylaws?

Notification has to be in writing.
They said they had an email from Brad.

Brad confirmed that he emailed on Sunday morning from Cincinnati.
He said he should not have, but being caught up in work and not realizing How things were in Minnesota, thought it was just a formality.
He was not filled in on how bad the weekend was going.

underline - terrific guy, and dedicated to kids and D6.

Just bringing back to the top and a request for all, Do not put all the weight on Elliott shoulders, he has been doing a great job not only representing District 16 but has brought your comments made here before the Mn Hockey board. It is time to keep voicing your opinions not only here but to the Mn Hockey Board and even to your local District board.
Get involved and do what is right for the kids or do nothing, your choice.

At this point, D6 - Hewitt and the other D6 board is against it.

Neither Hewitt, Shuman, or Evans were able to attend the vote, thus another guy steped in at the last minute and voted yes - however, that does not represent the District 6 opinions.
