Re: NHL Combine
I believe they invite 100 draft eligible players to go through testing and interviews.gopherhockey1234 wrote:I heard that there were some kids that got invited to this years combine. What is it and who got invited? How many kids go.
The physical tests involve:
1. Body composition (height, weight. body fat %)
2. Strength, power and muscular endurance (Grip Strength, Bench Press Repetitions at 150 lbs, Sit ups, Push-ups, Standing Long Jump, Vertical Jump)
3. Flexibility
4. Anaerobic fitness
5. Aerobic fitness
I believe they also do a medical assessment too.

They used to do a wingate test for anaerobic and a VO2 max for aerobic.scoreboard33 wrote:They have another test using a weird machine to do leg strength. Can't Never Tried wrote:Just an observation but wouldn't squats be better? Combine
Good luck to all the guys going. What a great honor for these kids. Is it typical that this many kids from Minnesota are going? Is this where they get interviewed by the NHL teams?

Re: Combine
I think this might actually be a somewhat down year for Minnesota kids at the combine. The 2006 draft (when Erik Johnson was taken #1) had more.hockey nut wrote:Good luck to all the guys going. Yes, this is both a workout conditioning test and interviews with various team personnel (GM, Directors of Scouting, Scouts, etc.)

Feinage and Stepan
I have read the Mckeens report out of Canada and the Hockey news report and they are both saying that the 2 kids that have made the biggest leap according to the NHL scouts in the last 3 months are Corey Feinage from Eastview and Derek Stepan of Hastings/Shattuck. It says Feinage played great in USHL, played smart, played big. It says Stepan got better, and better as the season moved on and says he was really good at the National tourney against some great talent. Does anyone have the passwords to these sites so that we can read all the repotrs on these kids. Did Stepan play any High Scool hockey at Hastings?
Re: Feinage and Stepan
Yeah I'm realatively certain he did play High school hockey for Hastings... I think maybe his brother did too! Someone will have to check that for sure.hockey junkie wrote:I have read the Mckeens report out of Canada and the Hockey news report and they are both saying that the 2 kids that have made the biggest leap according to the NHL scouts in the last 3 months are Corey Feinage from Eastview and Derek Stepan of Hastings/Shattuck. Spend the $$ and get access to the sites yourself if you are interested. Not trying to be a jerk, but don't don't steal and don't ask others to assist you in it.hockey junkie wrote:I have read the Mckeens report out of Canada and the Hockey news report and they are both saying that the 2 kids that have made the biggest leap according to the NHL scouts in the last 3 months are Corey Feinage from Eastview and Derek Stepan of Hastings/Shattuck.
