They were unhappy being with their friends who they won state championships in bantams (I believe) with?
Why not chase a state high school championship with those same buddies?
Parents?
Not many of those kids left
Patterson, Duda, Meyers, Miller, Dodds to BSM
Mooney to Breck
There was only 6 of the 12 left at EP prior, now it will be down to 4.
BladeButter44 wrote:Ford is also back at EP, left Breck half-way through this past year. Rumor has it, he is eligible for varsity next season?
It will be interesting to see how the transfer rule handles that situation. I would think he would have to play JV until the date of his enrollment at EP last year. I believe the penalty is one calender year from the date of transfer.

I think there is a provision for hardship, change in financial situation. So you can then transfer from private to public without any issue.

Sense i started this topic i dont like to voice my opinion i just like to hear others but the new update is that rush is going to tri city and that mitch rogge of eden prairie also tried out for shattuck and is one of three fighting for the last spot on the team. This is only word by mouth but i have heard that all 4 who are thinking of leaving are leaving due to a dislike of lee smith and the way he runs the program. What are outside opinions on lee smith?

No disrespect, who is Mitch Rogge? What grade is he in?
I thought Rush didn't make Tri City, tried out for Green Bay the following week and didn't make their all star team. Didn't I read that on this forum somewhere? I have seen his name on an Elite 1 roster. I presume he will be playing in the Elite League this fall. Which would make it appear that he will be a high school player.
Can you pulll up a Tri City roster with his name on it?
Also, didn't Brainerd's former coach join up with Eden Prairie (read that on this forum). I have heard good things about him.

That is what I had thought, but I think TC "allowed" him to tryout for Green Bay. If GB then wanted him, they would have had to make a trade.

When Tri-City released their roster, Rush was on it. They recently updated their site and he is no longer listed, so perhaps he had second thoughts on leaving for the USHL? I don't really know the deal.

So lets ask these parents how the program should be run. Lee Smith is awesome. End of story. We are living in the age of parents running rampant over coaches. Leave Lee alone and move on.

Rogge is a junior to be at EP. Heard from a pretty reliable source that he did indeed make the SSM squad and is weighing his options on whether to leave EP or not.
I personally support the growing legion of malcontented EPHS players who are leaving to showcase their individual talents elsewhere. Clear out and let a team emerge at EP.

I like your spin. Apparently they have some individuals there. Few that don't understand the word team and the value of playing with friends. Go away malcontents and stop the whining! EP should have enough talent without you bozos.

I have never heard of the kid. Did he play in advance camp? How did he do there? Did he make the National Team? Top 51? Will we see him in the Elite League this fall?
Are you saying he made the prep team? Same prep team that has players from all over North America. Will he be the next Sidney Crosby or Zach Parise? Are his parents willing to pay 40k a year to play hockey?
Let me guess, a Dad blowing smoke to bring attention to himself and his kid.

Pretty certain GR3343 is a proud Grand Rapids parent - Not Rogge's Dad...

breakout... not that it doesn't happen here on the bored, but that's not the case here. D16 is correct.

Thanks, fellas. I, of course since I'm not his parent, do not have the particulars on young Mr. Rogge. I do know however, that he's a top end player that made the EP varsity as a soph, was part of their last bantam state champion team, and was offered a spot at SSM. Which spot? Which team? Not entirely sure, but in the spirit of the thread, was attempting an answer posed to the question of "who is Mitch Rogge?" Next Crosby or Parise? Are any of the kids that have been added to the SSM program going to be that? Now you're just being ridiculous.
I am just trying to look at a bunch of kids leaving Ep from a different view point; maybe Smith isn't a great coach. How long has he been there and what has Ep done since he has been there? I am just playing devils advocate here and am saying that there is always three sides to a story.
I don't think you can say these kids are trouble makers and are team wreckers.

Here is the deal. Mr. Rogge has had his head up all of his kids coaches b@$$ and they are finally catching on! end of story why he is moving....Lee Smith is too smart for Mr. Rogge's crappola!!!!!!!!

Now you're starting to sound like a bitter EP dad who's kid is an up and coming Bantam player seeking a spot. Not picking a fight with you, but you're the one coming off like a bitter guy/gal who hasn't gotten what they want. If the kids that are leaving, or their parents, are such cancers, how is it they've succeeded at every level up until high school. Being from a small school in the north, it seems like EP has had every advantage(dollar wise as well as numbers)to succeed, yet when they get to the highest level, they underachieve. Now, I don't know anything at all about the coaching staff there, but they have not produced at that level the way the have produced at the youth levels. Coincidence? Not sure since I'm not involved, but maybe there's something to why players are leaving. Attacking a parent on the forum is kind of cowardly if you ask me. I know the man you're speaking of and consider him a good friend, you're off base, he only wants what's best for his kid. As we all do. Let it go and quit being bitter towards players that make decisions(as a family)that better themselves. EP is and has been a quality orginization that apparently has some question marks at the high school level. Underachieving is one of them.
Please don't come back on here and attempt to question the GR program as that's not the issue. We make due with what we have. We develop from within, some stay, some don't, it's the nature of the game. Speaking only for myself, I'm satisfied with the efforts put forth in our program. If a kid decided to leave because he wasn't, more power to him and best of luck. It all depends on the individual. Time to let it go and move on.

Players have also transferred in to EP (Bickel). Looks like things ended up pretty good for him. Leddy is still staying. High school hockey is different. You have 3 years to pick from. EP finally has 3 good years to pick from so watch out in a couple of years. We will state and then all this negative talk about MY GOOD FRIEND LEE will end. Hope you and Mr. Rogge have a nice summer!

Enjoy being a miserable guy. You should be pleased with the possible departures, it may open up some playing time. And the only one with the brown nose comments seems to be you. The kids that leave, the kids that stay, those are all personal choices. Who put you in charge? It's a personal choice. For every Leddy, there's going to be a Clark, deal with it and quit trying to bring down the ones you don't agree with.

Reason being is that just today I read an article in the Eden Prairie news about Nick Leddy going to play in Slovakia, or somewhere close to, and of course Nick's dad makes an appearance in the article. He gives a reason of why Nick is staying in Eden Prairie. That reason was: The cream will rise to the top.
It's interesting that Breakout uses the exact same phrase regarding Nick on page one.
So then I do find it interesting that Mr. Breakout "isn't familiar" with the Rogge family. As far as this whole argument goes about Mr. Rogge sucking up to coaches. It's all true.
