Interesting find in western wisc.

Post by slapshot715 »

I was at a junior tryout in WI and ran across an older guy who sharpens skates in his basement. Best sharpening I've ever had. He didn't even charge me. Asked me what hollow I like and what position I played. He said he'd been doing it a very long time. His sharpener looked like it came across on the Mayflower. I have his phone number and can pass it along to anyone interested.

Sorry about my illiterate reply previously. Whomever replied with a phone number to "Jake" is not the fellow I was talking about. When I asked him if it was ok to post a name and phone number I asked about his sharpening experience. He said that he sharpened for 2 teams in the WHL back in the early 1990's and has sharpened for a couple of college teams since then. I can testify to the fact that it is hard to find consistent sharpening. One would think that in the metro area there would be many but I find this is not the case. I feel compelled to pass along info when I find an "old man" who actually practices the art of skate sharpening. I knew when I watched him sharpen that he had been around awhile. He deburred the skates after sharpening with a piece of glass and leather. I know I'll go back to him.
