I will say this, the 1st 1/2 was some of the best football us Minnesotans have seen this year...and that includes the Vikes and Gophs...(With the exception of watching AP), all things considered of course.
The 2nd 1/2 EP just wore down the Raider D and ate up to much clock on their drives, keeping the CDH offense off the field.
Congrats to all the players from both squads for outstanding seasons, and showing great class and sportsmanship!

Well, congrats to EP.
That is without a doubt the best HS football team I have ever seen.
But I think a more appropriate response for this forum would be:
Oh, whine, whine, cry, EP is so big.
They have the edge, the advantage , and its apples to oranges. This is just so unfair.
They should pass a rule or something.
There. Somethig most can relate to.
But during the 4th quarter somethng occurred to me. EP most have a lot of Catholics on that team.
What'd I tell yah?

A couple of pieces of exciting news from the world of Eastside football...
#1 - Some of you may have noticed in the hockey forum that the Govs' hockey team is playing a game at a unique venue - Phalen Rec Center - for an outdoor game. Not to be outdone, the football team will also be playing a game in a unique venue this season... at JOHNSON. This will be the first game in recent memory (if not ever) played at Johnson, and it'll be homecoming. They installed a beautiful (and expensive) FieldTurf field there a couple of years ago, so this was probably to be expected at some point, and it looks like it's happening this season.
#2 - In the St. Paul City Conference, each team gets one non-conference game. Johnson's will be against a familiar foe... North St. Paul, who will likely be lead by Joe Rubbelke under center. I still haven't seen him play, but from everything I've heard, he's probably a more talented football player than hockey player, so this could be a real fun one to watch. Joe kept his Harding team close last year, losing to the Govs 15-13, but I would guess that he'll be surrounded with more talent at NSP. Johnson has tradionally had a very good football program with a tough ground game to control the ball - they'll probably need to do that against the Joelars.
Still looking for distractions from the Twins...

The Johnson vs. North St. Paul game is homecoming for the Polars. Also a note is that this will be the 1st meeting since that memorable section playoff game in 2006 when North St. Paul was a #8 seed with a 1-7 Regular Season & Johnson was a #1 seed with a 7-1 Regular Season. The Polars pulled off quite the upset in that game with a 20-13 Overtime victory @ Harding. Shane Ekman rushed for over 200 yards for the Polars in that game & Brady Hannigan made the play of the game popping the ball out for a touchback when Chris Atkins was about to score a touchdown. That was a memorable game.

Don't know if anybody caught it, but Fox 9 will be streaming football online this fall much like they did with MyFoxHockey.com. The football site is FoxPreps.com.
And just to put everybody's mind at ease... Yes, they will cover 2 Johnson games this season, including the battle for the Hatchet against Harding, so everybody can relax. For some reason they decided to stick a Rogers game on the schedule too, but whatever... can't win them all I guess.
The full schedule is here. First game is tonight with Coon Rapids going to Champlin Park. Fargo South at Edina tomorrow night.

Hope it doesn't spoil the event for you but you probably won't hear any gunfire in the backround either
I have a hunch we won't be hearing "Touchdown Rogers" much either. Can't Never Tried wrote:Well how nice of you to mention thatGovs93 wrote:Don't know if anybody caught it, but Fox 9 will be streaming football online this fall much like they did with MyFoxHockey.com. #2 - I'll be surprised if that Rogers club doesn't put me to sleep before I even get a chance to deal with issue #1.

Govs move to 2-0 with a win over Jack Morris' own Highland Park Scots.
Rogers? Well... nevermind, it doesn't matter how they did.
HM? Ditto.
Somebody fill me in on the Pioneers - what's their story? Their football team always seems to be on a 3 or 4 year cycle - they'll be way down for a few years and then all of a sudden they'll come out of nowhere and have a good season. Is this an "up" part of the cycle, or are these a couple of marginal wins so far?
Just curious, because no matter how the regular season plays out, they aren't getting past the silver & maroon come playoff time.
