Who will take the section this year? Rankings? Darkhorses? Any thoughts?

Lee

Lee do you have any official information that says Rogers will be in 2A this season for sure? this would be news to me.
You are correct about the co-op ending, and I know there was talk about the switch to 2A, but I have no official confirmation that it had happened, so...you scooped me on this!

Much like most of his political views, it would appear that Lee is correct (see the right hand side of the page where it says "2A Tournament").Can't Never Tried wrote:Great!east hockey wrote:Rogers should be added to the poll. I'm a bit confused about this... they were doing just fine at AA, and the co-op last year added nothing to the team, so I'm not sure why the program would go this route.Govs93 wrote:Much like most of his political views, it would appear that Lee is correct (see the right hand side of the page where it says "2A Tournament").Can't Never Tried wrote:Great!east hockey wrote:Rogers should be added to the poll. And yes I was tweaked when they got moved up because they had a real shot at winning 5A that year but once your at AA... I'd think you would stay there.
From what I could tell, they certainly played well against some of the better AA teams last year, and they clearly did pretty well in the playoffs. Can't Never Tried wrote:I'm a bit confused about this... they were doing just fine at AA, and the co-op last year added nothing to the team, so I'm not sure why the program would go this route.Govs93 wrote:Much like most of his political views, it would appear that Lee is correct (see the right hand side of the page where it says "2A Tournament").Can't Never Tried wrote: Great!![]()

Not that it matters in regards to this, but just out of curiousity, you don't happen to know how many of the kids on last year's Rogers team were from the co-op schools, do you?

Check that.... 1 Zimmerman player had some very limited time.
In my opinion I do not think it will hurt Rogers at all to go A, I think it could actually help. Rogers should do very well in section 2A which will allow them to set their schedule up with top teams in A which are as good as playing the top teams in AA. I guess the question should be asked if teams go to state almost every year at the A level why don't they move up? I will answer that question, because the are going to state almost every year! Players, coaches and parents do not care if they are AA or A when they are playing on TV at the Excel with the chance to hoist the state championship trophy. If you are a Rogers fan embrace the decision to go A if it happens you just might get the chance to buy tickets for the state tourney this year to watch them. Now if Rogers stays in AA we need to hope for a couple of upsets by Rogers to get to state.

Programs thrive on success not on being A or AA. Yes Rogers has had success the last couple of years but the program is still very young and trying to grow. CNT would you rather lose in sections at class AA or go to state at class A? I guarantee if you ask the players they would say go to state and so would the student fans. Ultimately a winning team has a bigger following the players are happier and it gets contagous throughout the program.

03 the only place I have a chance of winning or losing anything in this is right here on the "bored"

If it's what the players want who am I to argue it?
Go Royals!

Have you had the chance to talk to any of the players to ask them what they want? I do not know any of the kids on the team, I am just a fan of the program. Can't Never Tried wrote:royals03 wrote:Programs thrive on success not on being A or AA. You kidding me? Is Rogers not going to field an A Bantam team and try to mop up at the B level? Just so they can win?royals03 wrote:Programs thrive on success not on being A or AA. Codswallop!
Play at the highest level you can compete, and Rogers competes at AA just fine. I'm glad your not a coach who's telling his players they can reach their goals, but only if you set the bar low enough....
Didn't they get a big one last year?royals03 wrote:Now if Rogers stays in AA we need to hope for a couple of upsets by Rogers to get to state.
Keep in mind that this is coming from a complete outsider looking in, but based on what I saw at the Coliseum in the section semis, it looked like the win over CP gave the program and the student fan base a shot in the arm. It's just odd to me that a program as young as Rogers' is, and coming off a season that would have to be the most exciting and successful that they've had, that somehow it's more beneficial for the kids to be presented with the thought that they still can't play with the AA schools, when they've proven that they can.
Momentum sure seemed to be moving in one direction, and now it seems the rug was pulled out from under them.
