Warroad, Bemidji, Thief River Falls, and East Grand Forks should make 8A very exciting this year.profan105 wrote:I hear that Thief will be pretty good this year... anyone else agree?hockeygenie5 wrote:OK enough of this. I would have to tab Warroad as the favorites going in, but would not count any of the other 3 out of it until the final horn at regions.

Crookston, LOW, RLF & Hallock will have some skilled players and depending on goaltending will give some teams a game.hockeygenie5 wrote:Thanks elliott. What do you think for some of the typically lower seeded teams?
Park Rapids will have McMorrow back and a couple of others but no help from bantams.
Bagley will struggle just because of numbers.

Bemidji's strong Soph class are now juniors and there are a lot of incoming sophs off a very strong bantam team from last year.schwang17 wrote:What's the scene in Brrrmidji this year, Sir Elliott?elliott70 wrote:Crookston, LOW, RLF & Hallock will have some skilled players and depending on goaltending will give some teams a game.hockeygenie5 wrote:Thanks elliott. Goaltending will be very good with Sr Dundgeon and national player So Graves.
New coaching should be a plus - young, eneregtic, and confident.
Along with an old-timer returning to coach to add stability and a parent aspect to teh coaching ranks (his kids played but are no goen from the system).
Wade Chido via TRF and BSU
John Wangberg (former HS varsity, JV and bantam coach, of some successful teams)

Wangberg was asked to resign after 2000(?) season. the Jacks werres ection runner-ups that year and he was section coach of the year - if I remember correctly.offtheglas wrote:elliott, I thought Wangberg was the coach a few years back that was fired?
He will be on the ice and bench again this season and I think it is a very good choice. Wangberg has strong morals and is an excellent teacher.

If PR trumps LOW for the #6 my old pal Schwang isn't going to like to drive to Bemidji, continue north for another couple hours only to play Bemidji when he gets there. Oh well, I guess we all get to put on the miles this year.

That may qualify as 'sweet'.
