Any truth to the rumour of MN Made inviting 12 top teams to play in the
"true team state championship" at the squirt level in late March 2009?

Something about their panel will invite whom they think are at the top dozen teams, checking top trny results and what not. and also provide insurance, etc... This would be after the MH squirt season.

Haven't heard anything about it. I'm really interested since you know squirts only get 35 games and thats another tournament to fit in the season but only like 2 teams actually follow through with the game limit.

I hear Rosemount is just super duper. 10 returners, 9th in Fargo, and a couple of the most over-the-top dads you EVER met. You know who you are.

Please don't wreck it for your kids.

From the MH youth rules:
IC. The MH regular season begins September 1 and extends through the completion of all MH youth and girls State Tournaments.
ID. Teams formed for the purpose of post-season play, regardless of age division, can not be registered or sanctioned prior to the completion of the MH regular season. Players shall not be contacted regarding participation on these teams during MH-sanctioned activities. Any individual(s) violating this rule shall not be allowed to coach or manage a MH registered team for a period of one year.
The rumored tourney would be after the season. And because it is not MH sponsored, these rules probably don't apply anyway.

There have been proposed changes to rule ID. Also, MH has discussed prohibiting participation in non MH organized hockey inseason. Any update on these?

After MH season

Post by pucks are funny »

If it is after the MH season. they can do whatever they want. They would just have to make sure to not be tied into their association.. which may mean no association owned jerseys etc..

More than likey just like AAA, or a kickball game. There was a preseason trny this weekend of bantam age players. While they did not have direct affiliation to their association it was city vs city..

At the Squirt A level, it can be tough to project who the best teams are because this will be, for the most part, the first time they have the top kids together playing against the top kids from other association. Coming from Mites or lower level Squirts there are generally multiple teams to draw from and it seems to be difficult to get good match ups with the Mites because different association run there IP's differently. There's not much of a track record compared to PW and Bantams. I think it's safe to say the best teams will be the teams with the big numbers with a few smaller associations have a good group of kids surprising some people. We'll have to wait and see who they are.
