I am kinda interested myself. Is this your first kid going through youth sports? You do push Choice alot, too much in my opinion. I am a choice parent myself but I don't get on this board and rant a rave about it. We are fortune to have a choice at this time, call it luck and timing. Ride the wave of choice while you have it, it may not be here tomorrow or it may be the trend moving forward. I don't know, I only know this season and am happy that my kid is playing the game.
You are really starting to embarrass me as a Choice Parent, I am sure your embarrassing others. Settle down, your name will not be on the Cup. You are correct there is no State Championship for Squirts, only Districts. There are no district championships for Choice only 3 other teams to play against time after time. But that doesn't really matter to a guy like you because you are all about development, at least when it fits your platform.
Again, I need to go back to the original question. Is this your first kid going through youth sports?
Thanks Duck. Keeping it simple is the key. Many of your posts and points don’t come through when you constantly rave about MM and the repetition. I am there for the development and due to lack of confidence with my association, that simple. I consider this an experiment and this year was perfect timing. I believe that the years of 7,8, and 9 are key development years therefore I didn’t have time to wait for my association to get their act together. Having coached you would then agree that repetition is only good if drills are conducted properly. I question some of the coaching appointments at MM as I have seen plenty of drills that are done incorrectly. BM can write all of the practice plans for the entire state, but if there isn’t solid coaching behind it, it is all wasted time, effort and money.DuckDuckQuackQuack wrote:Hiptzech- The fact that you're at Minnesota made tells speaks volume. If you choose not to stick up for Minnesota made that is your choice. More power to you. With respect, I don't really care what you think of me. We all have to do what's in the best interest of our kids.
I have coached hockey and currently coach baseball and football. When it all comes down to it you can either offer a developmental program or recreational program. I choose to send my son to a developmental program. I feel my son will be a better player for doing so. Yes! I know kids will all peak at different times and I know everyone has a story of a kid who played "C" teams all the way through and one day received a D1 offer. I think that is great. In the end everyone needs to do what they have to do. As long as my son is having fun playing hockey then I'm happy for him. It's really that simple.
I choose not to defend BM because he is a grown man that can defend himself. He has had plenty of success already, and continues to succeed in his field. MM is a controversy, and I have no worries about the supporting the controversy, as evidenced by my choice to support it with my choice. But, I am not going to come on this board and beat a dead horse over and over again. You don’t need to defend BM and I am sure he isn’t interested in you defending him. The only way to measure the success of MM is the effect it has had on your kid. You say that it is about the kids, then let if be about the kids. I believe that you are so wrapped up in defending yourself you spin it as if you are defending MM. You say you are happy with your choice and it is every parents/player choice then leave it that way.
Now that I have had to step in and publicly slap you on this board for your poor display and behavior I have now opened up myself to the criticism and my motivation for going to MM. When I am challenged and questioned I will answer the questions and provide my viewpoint, but I will do so with some dignity. I am not worried about it, but please stop embarrassing the rest of us that made the same choice as you.
The question was never answered, and if you truly understood the world of youth hockey you would understand why the answer is so important. Is this your 1st kid in youth sports? The answer to the question is important as you may be suffering from Squirt Parentitis. With some acknowledgement and therapy you can be cured but it will take time, patience and strength to get through it.
