Gee maybe you could get lawyers involved and make some coin here eh?

I don't think there is any need for that, but I will say it's nice for someone to put the record straight......... at least for one organization, let's see who follows?

Now that they know people are not liking this alliance i bet all the organizations hop on here and say that it was all some crazy internet rumor.

Classic...absolutely classic Bob Capra move.
Heard directly from some of the Directors up north, many of the Canadian teams will not be sending teams to ANY of the Showcase or Capra tournaments (apparently they are the same) because for the last few years they have not been able to send teams back to Canada.
It sounds like the Canadians have found another organization that is willing to reciprocate and put on a tournament here in the Twin Cities.
Looks like this whole "Alliance" thing may be the kiss of death for some of those teams.

This sooooo classic! - thanks for sharing Terry - I guess we will come back to the SuperSeries afterall.
Wait a minute - let's think about this. Why would the Blades and the Machine want to form an Alliance with Easton? The Machine typically only play in MN tournaments so maybe it is helpful for them to try to improve the competitiveness of the Meltdown. Maybe they told Easton they wouldn't continue to play in the Meltdown if they didn't improve the quality of the tournment? I have no idea - am completely speculating.
If you look at the Blades though, I have to believe Terry Moore. I highly doubt they were even consulted or advised of this alliance. What possible reason would they have to join it? They are invited to participate in top tournaments all over NA. Most of the older Blades teams never even bother to play in the Meltdown since they have too many high profile tournaments that want them to participate. Some use the Meltdown as "practice" to get ready for the big tournaments but they can scrimmage any team they want for a lot less money than entering a tournament if they want to get ready for Prospects or other tournaments. There is really NO reason for them to have agreed to this. I bet their name got thrown in there to add credibility to the "Alliance". I don't think this is back peddling gentleman, I think this is all about misinformation. Again, I have no knowledge of any of this other than what I've read on this board. But you have to just think about it and see who has what to gain. It just doesn't make sense.

Agreed, do not see a reason why the Blades would do this. I do know that the Cyclones and MM were upset with a couple of other local teams and one instance involved kids leaving their program for another and wanted to make this more difficult in the future - maybe they should look in the mirror for the reasons people leave and address those issues than rather trying to build barbed-wire fences (aka: the "alliance")around their players???
Just checked the Easton website again. The "announcement" paragraph that got this whole thread started is now gone (it was under the news section). Interesting. Maybe Easton realized they would have to kick their own teams out to get quality. I guess if you can't earn your way in the world, the solution is to quit trying and just start making the rules as you go. I need to get going and try to get my kid on one of the vaunted Easton teams now! Wish me luck!
None of the Showcase tournaments have ever consistantly drawn top teams from around the US or Canada. Take a look at the past results and tell me the last time you saw the Mission, Compuware, Little Ceasars, Honeybaked, LA Hockey club, Marlies or any of the other top teams here?
With a few possible exceptions the answer is never. Is this an attempt to try to draw those types of teams to MN? If so I would think the Blades could do that without the help of Showcase. Why would they allign themselves with something this silly. Excluding teams from the Easton Cup. Now that is funny.

Terry,
I commend you for your stand up position.
I coach one of the Icemen teams that is NOT affiliated with the Alliance
We were the second team asked by Tim Hawkinson to join.
After reading this thread I am glad at this point we are not in!!!!!
Plenty of other tournaments to attend.
Tony Brumm

p.s. I too will be back next year for the Super Series
dreampuck wrote:buttend, how does restricting teams from your tournaments help protect your business?
I own my own business, and I have yet to tell any potential customer they are not good enough for me to do business with them. I have gotten rid of customers who are not profitable however.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Showcase is bigger than ever, and much bigger than they were 3 years ago. Not positive on that.
MM is much bigger than they were 3 years ago as well.
It jsut doesn't make good business sense!
The Alliance talks about dilluting the AAA pool, but they are adding teams each and every year, not because there is an increase in talent, because they can make more money, which is fine...but that is why their argument for forming the "Alliance" is bogus.
We all have the right to pick and choose which tournaments to attend and which programs to attend, just like we all have the right to boycott the "Alliance" programs and anyone who would affiliate themselves which such a stupid idea.
You are absolutely correct that it is not our right to play in their tournaments and you are again correct nothing has been taken away, but what the "Alliance" is basically saying is that many of the other teams are not good enough to play in their tournaments, again that is simply crap!
When they have a hard time filling their tournaments, or someone backs out last minute like last year, they dont seem to have a problem taking our money then.
This is a poor business decision and they should re-think it. Each year is going to change, depending on who wants to go their tournaments, how good a team is from year to year, etc...why on earth would you exclude anyone just because they are not from your "Alliance"?
"Alliance" go ahead and pick and choose the teams you want in your tournaments, that is your right, but to exclude teams becasue you can is just plain and simple...not good business!
Dreampuck,
This is not my fight.... I just trying to provide a different angle and some facts. In reality, Showcase and MM have a corner on the tourament market in the Twin City area. I think this is a great opprotunity for a group to start a new AAA event. Look at all the teams on the list I posted. You would have allot of teams knocking on door ready to play.
While this topic is hot today in the end it will fade by spring, I would guess Showcase will open its doors, not because of this forum or boycotts but because its a business and it needs teams to fill its events..
First of all Nice job Terry Moore! I am sure when the AAA showcase-Machine-Easton tourney's don't fill up they will be calling offering half price entry fees like they did last year. The more local teams that compete the better. And remember Hockey is for the kids and they play it for fun and the love of the game.

I still don't understand what this alliance is supposed to accomplish.
Is it so Bernie and this Capra guy can play each other or is it so they can just keep playing each other and claim they are the greatest developer of 9 year old hockey players in the entire world. Plus its so fun if you go to 4 tournaments a year and the same 6 teams are there.
I'm so sick of listening to this stupid AAA stuff.
Minnesota plays association hockey. I'm starting to see a trend at the youth level that everyone cares more about what stupid summer hockey team they play on rather than trying to win games with the kids at their school and even more coaches trying to get their kid on a good AAA team rather than trying to build a good team and trying to compete for an eventual state championship.
Also if a kid who is playing Squirt C hockey (Yes Squirt C hockey) is playing AAA then AAA is not what it used to be
Too many AAA teams popping up. Easton is trying to build good teams by adding the Stealth and Synergy. Minn. made is adding additional teams. Right or wrong kids are already leaving these teams for bigger and better teams. The new teams that pop up are promising a lot of things to the kids and their parents. I think by creating the alliance it's supposed to stop kids from bailing on their AAA teams.
As far as the Blades not being part of this alliance. It's nice to hear officially their not part of this alliance. Like it or not lets see if any Blades teams play in any of these tourneys. By saying they want no part of the alliance is one thing but to play in these tourneys will be something to see.
AAA hockey is what it is.......... Some people build teams to win baby and other build teams to develop players.

Another great thread for me to ridicule all of you National Inquirer readers with. I can't believe this group of people gets so whipped up about some the crap you do....Just get on piece of information and go off the handle.
Pull your foot out of your mouths and your undies out of your heads. We really need Britney to get back in the spot light...
Terry Moore doesn't need an lawyer, he is one...I bet it was a great phone call that was placed...

Thanks for the catch...I was going to write attorney, but did not want to double check the spelling. I guess I got sloppy and forgot to proof read as well as drop the "n" off the "a".....
I guess I should have said Terry Moore doesn't need a barrister, he's an attorney.

Oops. Sorry!!! Not what I meant because I did not catch the "an" vs. "a"...I just thought it was funny because he is "a" lawyer...and by the way...one outstanding man.
