Rumor has it that due to declining enrollment and because the teams might never make it to state any other way, that a new co-op is being formed. They will be the Apple Bloom Prairie Eagles. Good thing the MHSL left that loop hole allowing schools that are geographically close or sharing the same mascot to combine. It almost makes up for the impact the new transfer rules have had on Eden Prairie hockey.

Go Eagles!!!
Sometimes we get way too serious around here, this made me smile!

WBL scrimmaged Armstrong last night. WBL scored 7 goals / Armstrong 0. Shots were 6 to 1 WBL. WBL played one extra line were as Armstrong looked like they had 2-3 extra lines working.

Eagle Nation!
Hey guys way to keep the thread on track
HA! This was definitely and entirely related to Preseason Scrimmages. But I will definitely try to keep the "human kindness" element out of it next time - my badness. -

Wow that is impressive win for WB, should be a great high scoring game on Saturday with Hill Murray.
Its early but Edina is not looking like the #1 ranked team. They did not score a goal against Hopkins' top goalie or the Burnsville goalies. Where you start doesn't really matter, its where you end up that counts but right now I would put Edina somewhere in the lower half of the top 10 and maybe not in the top 10 at all.
Thunderbird77 wrote:Is it true that the Classic Lake recently voted to exclude Armstrong due to declining enrollement and their inability to field enough athletes?
Yes, all of the Classic Lake teams in all sports will have to find new a new conference to play in. With this vote they will fall below the minimum of 5 teams to a conference.

I saw Hopkins beat Anoka 3-1 at Wakota a week ago they are very good - I would expect Edina and Hopkins to have close hard fought contests all year. Billadeau is one of the best goalies in the state and I don't see her giving up many goals over the course of the entire year.

Burnsville 2, Edina 0
Edina 2, Hopkins 2
Edina 2, Cloquet 2
Edina 3, Maple Grove 1
Burnsville beat Edina and Hopkins, I think 2-0 and 4-1 (?? Not sure of score) respectively. In the Edina game, Edina outshot them something like 35-7 but Burnsville won. I only saw some of the Burnsville - Hopkins game. I think Hopkins second goalie gave up most if not all of the scores. Burnsville was playing without one of their standout players, Lauren Barnes. Cloquet has one outstanding forward line, a good goalie and a few nice D.
