North Suburban 08-09

Post by JV State Champs »

Benilde dominated like no team I have ever seen dominate a year before. However the Red Knights lost pretty much all of their talent save Meyers and Borer. They will not be nearly as good this year but can they still stay on top of the conference? Totino Grace, St. Louis Park, and Irondale should be alot better this year and may challenge for the title.

Does cooper have a good squad this year? They are the one team I am unfamiliar with. I just know they have struggled for the past few seasons. Good to hear that they are coming back though.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much. I give them all the credit in the world for perservering, but their youth program continues to struggle due to changing demographics.

Even though Benilde, Totino, and St.Louis Park are all down I think they will still be the true contenders for the title....Irondale and Spring Lake Park should be alright and are capable of upsetting the top teams.

There is no possibility of irondale and spring lake park even contending with benilde. Maybe St. louis park, and possibly even TG, but they wont even have a chance against benilde, even with benilde having a down year.

Benilde has no depth, lost too much of their scoring, yes they will always be good but they are very vulnerable to losing against the mediocur teams in the conference.

yes, they will be vulnerable to mediocre teams. The North Suburban has a huge drop off after Benilde and even TG. You cant even call the teams after the drop off, mediocre. Benilde wil have no problem disposing of their north suburban opponetns.

I am finding the spelling skills and general coherence of several of the posts on this thread to be less than "mediocre."

Irondale plays Benilde tough only losing 4-3. As i mentioned before Benilde is not the same team and when they don't show up they are very capable of being beaten. They were outplayed in the first and third and were basically given two shorties not to mention Iorndale was without their top defensemen. I don't think it was their starter but Benilde's goalie didn't look to special, on the other side Irondale's Bortot played insane with some huge glove saves.

I was at the game and find it hard to say that Irondale outplayed BSM on the whole but there were certainly a few stretches in which they did. To me BSM clearly took Irondale lightly and did not show up for the game. They were lucky to come out with the win. However, I think that this will serve as a wake up call to the Red Knights that the North Suburban is stronger this year and they are not going to win games by double digits. They are still the clear-cut best team in the conference but they actually have to show up to games this year.
