Eden Prairie Peewee A Thanksgiving Tournament
North Pool
Chaska – Off to slow start, expectations high this year for the Hawks with I believe 6 returning players off of last years district playoff championship team.
Woodbury – Clouded in mystery, early season loss to Edina 4-1 and, if correct, a opening district 8 loss to Hudson, make it difficult to predict how this team will do this early.
Lakeville South – Have yet to win a game, seem to give up goals in bunches, averaging 6.80 GA per game will make it tough to last in this tourney.
Elk River – Beat E.P., tied Chaska, beaten soundly by Edina, hung close with Wayzata. Perfect pool for them to make a statement.
South Pool
Fairbanks Arctic Lions Tier 1 – Been playing Tier II minor bantam teams and winning, lost what looks like first two league games to Alaska All-Stars. Carry 15 skaters and 2 goalies.
White Bear Lake – Early victory over Wayzata bodes well for them. Small, fast forwards with good skills, stay out of the box against them as their power play will kill you.
Eden Prairie – Started off giving up everything but the kitchen sink early on in there own zone (5.42 GAA in first 7 games). Have settled down as league play starts with 5-1 and 4-0 victories. Can they keep that going?
Minneapolis Park – Playing a tougher schedule than in past years, have hung close with Burnsville, Blaine and OMG in their 3 losses. Solid first line, still getting their legs going to skate with top end teams.
East Pool
Wayzata – Only loss to White Bear, sound defense has recorded 4 shutouts in 7 games so far, to go along with 5.4 goals for per game. Don’t have any superstars emerging yet, just a solid top to bottom team.
Centennial – Another team with a strong group of returning players increase the expectation of this team. Doing well to date. Lost a close game to Edina 2-1. With the exception of Wayzata’s 8-0 win have limited teams to 2 goals or less per game.
Eagan – Not the team of last year, made swing through Fargo area going 1-2-1, beating Moorhead while losing to the Flyers and Raiders, tying the Angels. Smaller team that has not handled physical play well as of yet.
Stillwater – Off to strong start, could challenge White Bear for D2
dominance this year. Have the confidence considering tournaments entered this year E.P., Edina, and Spirit of Duluth.
West Pool
Maple Grove – Combining back with Osseo has provided an early season spark, having 130 plus kids to pick from has it’s benefits. Both losses have come against top teams. Will be interesting to see how they handle this pool.
Edina – Off to 11-0 start, small, quick, skilled team. Any team that can play the body AND stay out of the box will do well against this team, but with inconsistent officiating comes too many man up chances for Edina’s potent power play.
Rochester – Decided to go with one ‘A’ team this year, are one of the top associations in terms of numbers, they are fielding 10 peewee level teams. Will condensing the talent on to one team result in on ice success remains to be seen.
Roseau – High expectations, strong group of returners from a 30 plus win season last year. Will be able to gauge where they are at right away playing in this pool. Edina Roseau might be the game of the tournament (Go Rams!)
Bold is predicted pool winners.
Chaska – Off to slow start, expectations high this year for the Hawks with I believe 6 returning players off of last years district playoff championship team.

EP Tournament
Ronny Hextall good post.
Elk River may be very short with 3-5 possible being moved to high school.
I do not think Roseau had many first year guys that were big contributers from the 2007-2008 season. Roseau will have to hit the ground running in this tournament with most other team with 10-15 games (by tourny time)under their belt already. Roseau with 2 games in. Good luck to da Rams!!

Northwoods: 3-5 peewees moving to high school? Are you confusing with bantams?
Superstar: E.P. will no doubt be a solid club this year, but explain 3-5-1 record with 5.00 GAA outside of D6, but 3-0 with a 1.00 GAA in D6. I don't see D6 as dominate this year as in years past. You'll have to show your metal outside the league this year.

northwoods oldtimer- did i catch that right? not to many returning players from last years teams that did much? if thats what you ment your seriously mistaken. all but one of the serious contributors on the peewees of last year is back. in fact our top 5 forwards from last season are all their this year.
Re: EP Tournament
Northwood you should know better than to come on here and start to bash Roseau Pee-wee "A" hockey. We all know that they bring back everything from last years team. if you make the dog mad he will lift his leg and pee on you.northwoods oldtimer wrote:Ronny Hextall good post.

Edina right now is benefiting from the fact that all their players play year round and the majority of them have become hockey only focused players, nothing wrong with that. As the season wears along and other teams begin to catch up with them, which inevitably happens, they will be challenged. I personally believe that this will happen sooner this year than in previous years and their challengers are going to come from outside of D6.
Roseau will bring a similar team down to Eden Prairie next weekend and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
Edina is good, but would anybody on the "bored" be surprised if they didn't win this tournament? Not even make it out of their pool? Eden Prairie did no favors by putting them in that pool. Whoever wins that pool will not surprise me and I would be willing to bet it will come down to some tie breakers and with that it comes down to coaching. And if your had to pick between Gunderson/Yon, Johnson, Portner, or Zmolek; Roseau looks pretty good.
O-Town, how's my grammar?
Jimbo99, this is peewee 'A', not bantams.

East Pool:
Centennial 5-3 over Eagan
Wayzata 7-1 over Stillwater
Wayzata 1-0-0, 2 Pts, +5 GD
Centennial 1-0-0, 2 Pts, +2 GD
Eagan 0-1-0, 0 pts, -2 GD

Eagan vs Wayzata
Centennial vs Stillwater
Comments:
Wayzata has asserted itself here as the front runner, could gear up for a heck of a game between Centennial and Wayzata for the pool, provided they both take care of their morning games, which I think they should.
West Pool:
OMG 4-0 over Edina
Roseau 6-4 win over Rochester
OMG 1-0-0, 2 Pts, +4 GD
Roseau 1-0-0, 2 Pts, +2 GD
Rochester 0-1-0, 0 Pts, -2 GD
Edina 0-1-0, 0 Pts, -4 GD
Up next:
Roseau vs Edina
Rochester vs OMG
Comments:
Edina losing to OMG, not expected, but also not shocked. Roseau and Edina game should be a good one with Edina's stake in Sundays championship round on the line. This pool could end up with three teams at 2-1, which will make goals a premium.
Centennial 5-3 over Eagan
Wayzata 7-1 over Stillwater
Wayzata 1-0-0, 2 Pts, +5 GD
Centennial 1-0-0, 2 Pts, +2 GD
Eagan 0-1-0, 0 pts, -2 GD
Stillwater 0-1-0, 0 pts, -5 GD

West Pool Looks Tough
I'm looking at the brackets of the EP tourney and the organizers must have wanted the West teams to beat on one another during pool play. This pool seems to be stacked. Did anyone see the OMG Edina game? I'm wondering if it was a legit win or just a hot goaltender. I've seen Edina this year and no one has been able to neutralize the speed.Ron Hextall wrote: Comments:
