Squirt A Tournaments

Post by hockey_is_a_choice »

HockeyGuy12345,

Regarding the BP tournament, the Wisconsin Fire will dominate the field. Edina White and Stillwater should be the next best teams. If they play to their potential, Anoka and Prior Lake will be competitive.

As for the Hopkins tournament, hands down Edina Green. STMA is not even close to being in the same stratosphere as Edina Green. (I'm not a District 6 parent.) Elk River is better than STMA. Hopkins is at the same level as STMA.

As for the SuperRink Spectacular, Champlin Park should beat Tartan. Spring Lake Park will beat Irondale.

It will be a fun weekend.

Not so fast, Grasshopper. That Irondale team is 3-0 and has a couple of pretty good players including an outstanding goalie, I think that first game against SLP should be a dandy.

Edina

Post by O-townClown »

Edina's second A team probably posts a losing record in District 6 this year. I'll be surprised if they win any tournaments.

Edina's first A team will do great. I'll pick them in this, and every other, tournament.

The Hopkins tourney will go to Edina. They aren't as good as last years A team but they won't lose many, if any games this year. STMA may give them a run but won't have enough to beat them.
In the BP tourney, it will be the Wisconsin team. They have a ton games under their belt but I predict this will be a lot closer than many think. Watch out for Eastview, PL and Cloquet.

I had originally heard their second A team was almost as good as their top team. How have they been doing in their competitive practices? Who have they played?

There is no way. How could they be? All the best players are gone.

Stillwater vs. Fire game was a really good squirt hockey matchup, better than the score reflects. The goalies had dueling shutouts for two periods. The Fire goalie is as techniquely correct as his brothers, no surprise there, but the Stillwater goalie was excellent and put out a great effort. Fun to watch.

'98 Fire/Stillwater game

Post by hockey_is_a_choice »

The Stillwater team played a great game against the Fire. Stillwater had some really nice scoring chances, but the Fire goalie was very good. Stillwater's goalie was fun to watch. He played with confidence and turned away numerous scoring opportunities by the Fire.

STMA will beat Chaska - 4 to 2
Roseville can skate with Edina - could be an upset in the making but Edina wins by a goal.
Edina beats STMA in final 3 to 2.

What do you mean good hockey up north? Those two teams rely on two vastly over rated players. All the good TEAMS are playing in the cities this weekend.

I haven't ever seen them play but I was at the Burnsville rink and I was looking at the standings board and Rosemount had thrown up the perfect score beating Bloomington Jefferson 5- 0 and Rochester 8 -0 at the A division.

Sounds Legit to me.
