Lourdes reminds me of west last year. Jr heavy teams get upset in sections (West - New Ulm; Lourdes - West), Both lose their Sr. goalies (Trembley/Blasing; Scuds), but return basically their whole team the next year. West Sr's were on a mission last year and Lourdes is in the same boat this year. Goalie is unknown. West had question marks at goalie, but Bruggeman emerged as one of the best goalies in the state last year. If Lourdes get a pleasant suprise like that I think they'll not only walk to state, but also have a good run in the state tourney. New Prague will be up there with them. NP/Lourdes final would be sick
Pretty good picks here but I would flip NP and Lourdes. I think NP has a little more high end talent with Lapic and Adams who had a great fall elite league. Basically like Ginos said whoever can find the goalie between the two will probably come out of here. Don't count out RW though. Some good forwards in Shammel and the Noesen brothers along with some steady Dmen.

Holy Angels 4
Red Wing 1

From what i hear it was a pretty even game, shots were about the same, Holy Angels just converted on their opportunities.... Should be a good one when the Wingers go to Golden Valley for Breck on Friday

Things to remeber

Post by goaler »

Some things i want mention:

We love this sport. Yes Albert Lea destroyed Waseca. Brandon Kingston, a true hockey player, scored twice for Waseca.

The kid weighs 100 pounds but he gives every ounce, every time he steps on the ice; what a great example of what high school hockey means in Minnesota. Stop you guys and think for a second. Waseca is a very flawed hockey team, but i've never heard Brandon complain. He works his ass off every day in practice. What a fantastic example of what it means to play high school hockey in Minnesota. Stop for a second and think about that.

Ok, here's an early season analysis. I've seen Faribault and Albert Lea beat Waseca. What does it mean?

Who's better? Albert Lea I think. Faribault's young. But watch out Section 1A.

I took the the scoresheet for the horror against Faribault, and I recorded the debacle on digital video in the pest hole in Albert Lea. Who's better? Albert Lea. Faribault's young. But watch out Section 1A.

As my name suggests, I watch the goalers. Neither AL or Faribault has a good goaler. Without being too negative, they need a lot of work.

God, I hate that Albert Lea arena. The seats suck and the ice sucks. How can Roy Nystrom make a silk's purse out of a sow's ear in that dump every year? The team is good, but the arena sucks. Need a goalie, though. Sorry. Both goals that Brandon Kingston scored for Waseca were soft.

Since you seem to know so much about goaltending what's your analysis of Waseca's? You seem to know a lot about them.

Not trying to be a smart-ass as you put it. Just figured since you gave your opinion about the other two you could tell us about the Waseca goalie just to make it seem as though you aren't biased.

40 years huh? Didn't they still use the straight leg, bent back stance back then, making skate saves and such? Not exactly what you see today

NO WAAAAAY!!! Red Wing in first place. Give me a break! Who are you trying to kid? Johnny Pohl left about 10 years ago. Here is the real order.

1.Lourdes
2.West
3.Albert Lea
4.New Prague
5.Fairbault
6. Red Wing
7.Who really cares about the rest or Red Wing for that matter[/i]

NO WAAAAY!!! West finishes in the top 4 in this section! Lourdes, New Prague, AL or RW and then maybe Faribault or West?

ok 4th liner. how could you even say that west is #2 and then bring down RW to #6 considering that during preseason scrimmages just a couple weeks ago RW demolished west 6 or 7 to 0. i know it was pre season and i heard that west had a couple of players gone but still, 6 or 7 to 0? come on.. I think that the section comes down to lourdes red wing and new prauge. i believe that rw and lourdes play on thursday so that should be a good match up between 2 solid section 1A teams.

Another big section game tonight... It's New Prague and Lourdes at Graham Arena. Last time these teams met, it was Lourdes winning in the section semifinals

Lourdes vs New Prague

Post by mrhockey999 »

I think Lourdes will take this one. My prediction is lourdes 6-2. No depth on new pragues team after that first line.

I will have to agree with mrhockey999. I seen hermantown demolished new prague 7-1 which was surprising. Either they had a bad game or mrhockey is right NO DEPTH. Not to say hermantown is not talented but I thought it would be closer. I am hoping for a descent game as I plan to attend. Red Wing hanging in there with Holy Angels was an uplift for them as well. Lourdes will have no problem running away with this section especially if they hand it to new prague tonight.

For all of you guys that think I'm just a cheerleader for AL:

*I am from Albert Lea, I've never denied being a fan
*I make it a point to try to post scores from around the section. I wish more people would do this as it can easily lead to good discussion
*ALL STAR ROOKIE- You've already destroyed one hockey forum, please don't make it two

On another note:
Albert Lea and Austin cancelled school today and thus, they will not play their game. Anymore weaher related game cancellations from around the section?

Lourdes we prob win, I was not at that hermantown game but I heard NP's goalie let in 4 goals in the first off 11 shots. I have seen NP's goalie and he would have trouble in a bantam game. I think NP has enough depth but until they find a goalie they have no hope, NP will have a better chance of winning tonight if they start Morris and I am saying that even though I have never seen the kid play and have never seen him but it can't get any worse.
