Alexandria (0-0) @ St Cloud Cathedral (2-0) 12-6

Post by HShockeywatcher »

In their season opener Alex travels to the MAC to play Cathedral. On paper the Crusaders would usually be the favorite, although with the rivalry these two have they play each other tough, with last year's game ending in a 3-3 tie.

This should be a good one. Both teams have solid goaltending and a balanced attack up front. I'm going to have to go with SCC in this one though

Wait, wait, wait...these two teams have a rivalry?

They've only faced eachother like...two times lifetime!

it all depends on how hemingway plays. Alex has 3 balanced lines with really no studs like cathedral does. ill say a 2-2 tie with cathedral outplaying the cards

I like Alex over Cathedral. Alexs goalie is very solid and will give his team a win to start the season. 3-1

I'm going to have to go with SCC on this one 3-1. SCC seemed to be a little off their usual game in their first two games but it looks like they are starting to figure it out. With this being Alex's first game of the year I just can't imagine they'll be completely ready for a team like Cathedral.

Actually Alex lost their two leading scorers and they didn't have a whole lot of fire power last year, so Hemmingway is going to have to bail um out to win this one

The two leading scorers were the only two seniors that played. Alex has 17 kids on the team with varsity experience. The two seniors wernt really studs either so they can be replaced. Should be a good game

I was at the game, and it was a well fought game. They had shots at like 34-18 in favor of SCC but it wasnt that lop sided. probably more like 30-22. It was a battle most of the way and alex had the lead most of the . game. They went up 3-1 and then SCC got one with less than a minute, left in the second. The third period was physical and the refs were good but then at the end of the game they started calling penalties. with 4:30 left in the game alex got a penalty which they killed off. Then at 2:18 alex got another penalty on what many people felt was a flop by the SCC player. But SCC scored on the power play to send it into OT. It was back and forth in OT until one of the alex players, was messing around with the puck behind his own net and got it taken away and SCC buried it. Good game, could tell it was alex first game but both teams should have a promising seasons.
