Re: Polls and Rankings
They lost nobody to juniors. The top two losses at forward (other than Rob) were Jacob Boese and Mike Renier. Dillon Friday and Nate Anderson were their top senior defensemen last season.hockeyhair15 wrote:i kno they lost rob johnson to graduation other than that were there any impact players they lost to graduation or Jr's?karl(east) wrote:MNHockeyFan wrote: 2. East returns slightly more than half their scoring from last season. You're looking at a team that may be their best defensive team since the '97-98 squad which won State.
I don't know about #2. Top five, very possibly, but #2? I'm too close to the situation to be objective, of course. After how their last three seasons ended, East has something to prove.

I agree completely. As much as I love East and hate Hill, I see no way to rationally justify these rankings. Hill has done nothing to prove they'll be taking a step down from the top so far (their performance against Burnsville, on the contrary, suggests the opposite). Beating Duluth Central by 2 more goals than usual does nothing to move East up either.
I'm not doubting East's ability to climb to #2 or win a state championship, I just feel they need to earn it a bit and prove they're more than a goood team on paper, which they have not been able to do lately.

yea that d core is scarry good, plus you know with randolph behind the bench and that schedule of theirs they'll beready to go come playoff time, i just think at this point it might be a little to high.
i also think I-Falls at #10 is pretty high after the way an unranked hibbing ran their show the other night.

the new LPH rankings are out today. They couldn't wait one day?
1 EDINA
2 Duluth East
3 Hill-Murray
4 Centennial
5 Blooming. Jefferson
6 Roseau
7 Minnetonka
8 White Bear Lake
9 Eden Prairie
10 Holy Angels
11 Blaine
12 Moorhead
13 Benilde-St. Marg.
14 Hopkins
15 Burnsville
16 Woodbury
17 Cretin-Derham Hall
18 Wayzata
19 Eastview
20 Apple Valley
Some interesting things:
- Burnsville holds at 15 after the beating, I'm assuming after the Edina one they should take a hit now
- Apple Valley beat Eastview but holds one spot behind
- What did H-M do to drop to #3?
It's early and they don't mean much but still we have to discuss something on here.

How does Burnsville not deserve to be in the top 15 from losing in their first three games to the now ranked #1, #3 and #5 teams? By that account, they could be #6. Edina and Hill are for sure the real 1/2 teams and are in a league of their own, but Burnsville lost 2-4 @ Jefferson. They could easily win 10-12 of their next 12 games until they play Jefferson again.
Hill only lost three games last year and has shown they still have it this year. A #3 ranking with no first place votes is too low at this point. Look at St Thomas, they are the defending champs, have yet to play a game and have all 6 first place votes. Hill is the defending champs, shut out Burnsville away, while Edina let in a goal at home (although this game is not yet considered). Pretty amazing to me to see this.

East's top line?
I see that Paulseth and Tardy exploded against Central...who's the third member of that top line right now? Is it Tamasy from Brainerd?

Tamasy had a very solid game though.
