Spuds in a close one
I'm gonna go with a 3-2 Moorhead victory Saturday night...I'll be at the game taking lots and lots of photos, too. I'll post one with a link when I get back home.

oh yeah you would know that because you have already been to the game right? o wait its tomorrow, so nice try. WBL will have at least 40 kids there that traveled about 4 hours to get there so we will see about that buddyHockeyHigh wrote:White Bear has no student section, so they can't win.![]()
I thought Moorhead's goalie was a little bit shaky, to be honest. South didn't really test him, just shot into him or missed the net on all their chances.
losing is still far from optional

I was pretty impressed with the Section at the South game tonight, actually. I was just making a joke as your student section is always hyped up more than your hockey team is.B wrote:oh yeah you would know that because you have already been to the game right? o wait its tomorrow, so nice try. WBL will need to test Moorhead's goalie to win. Moorhead has a pretty strong offense, on the other hand. Basically the opposite of Fargo South.
i agree. wbl didnt show up tonight and it showed...i think sager made some poor decisions as well. was it just me or did it seem like there were only 4 defensemen on the ice at the same time? i dont know, something needs to change if they want to beat moorhead, and be alot more successful this yearHockeyHigh wrote:I was pretty impressed with the Section at the South game tonight, actually. South was disrupting WBL pretty badly. I don't think it was really WBL was playing badly, as much as South was on them at all times. Once South began to lay off the pressure in the 3rd period, WBL had an opportunity to move the puck around without a lot of pressure. When South went passive, WBL got a lot of opportunities. You have to give some credit to South for playing the dump and chase game to pressure WBL in their own zone.B wrote:i agree. wbl didnt show up tonight and it showed...i think sager made some poor decisions as well. was it just me or did it seem like there were only 4 defensemen on the ice at the same time? i dont know, something needs to change if they want to beat moorhead, and be alot more successful this yearHockeyHigh wrote:I was pretty impressed with the Section at the South game tonight, actually. I may be wrong, I didn't really notice if they did change the goalies, but didn't they put Owen back in against FS?wblsuperfan alumni wrote:i was not at the Fargo South game so i have no educated opinions on that. but WBL will have a hard time against moorhead if they lost to South. it changes everything though once you put Owen back in net.
WBL can beat Moorhead as long as they play physically. South was more physical to both Moorhead and WBL than they got back, and that forced players to give up the puck when they didn't need to. Moorhead is a very small team, and WBL should take advantage of that if they'd like to win. If they don't, Moorhead will walk around them all night.
White Bear Lake
This goalie for WBL, is he going to sign a proffesional contract by the end of the season???? or just go to juniors to finish out the spring?
As much as you guys put on him, you're sure going to be dissapointed when Moorhead puts 4 or 5 in on him....

Ok, I wont sit here and laugh in the face of all the homers that told me white bear would sweep, when I said they would split. What do you know we were all wrong.... get out the brooms! "O"wen wasnt quite as good as portrayed..... and they get the long bus ride home to figure out where they must make their changes. To many chiefs on that club!
Moorhead v White Bear Lake
You know, if you think about it....Moorhead did tie Fargo South...

The Bears will face another tough opponent next Friday at Aldrich when they play Woodbury.
I was at the White Bear game against Century and the Woodbury game tonight against Blake. Just going by those two games, Woodbury is more physical, keeps coming at you and has 4 well balanced lines.
White Bear could end up losing 4 in a row. They play at Forest Lake Tuesday night.

actually 6-3
The final was actually 6-3...Moorhead scored two empty net goals in the final two minutes. The Spuds led 4-1 into the last few minutes, but WBL rallied to cut the lead to 4-3.

White Bears student section was immature. Before the game they were yelling at little kids walking by and waving a toy sword at them. Real mature scaring 10 year olds good job. During warm ups they were pounding on the glass telling the Moorhead players they were doing and going to die. Starting lineups they yelled the whole time so you could not hear anything then topped it off with saying dousch after every player got announced. Classy! My all time favorite was their shirts that said we're better than you. Guess two teams proved that wrong this weekend.sachishi4 wrote:at least you guys have a student section...

From the Fargo forum
"The Spuds led 4-1 midway through the third, but the Bears sliced it to 4-3 in the span of 1 minutes, 23 seconds late in the frame. But Moorhead (1-0-1) was able to tack on a couple of empty-netters and hold WBL to just one shot on goal over the final two minutes.
“We had talked about how they came back (against Fargo South Friday),” said Quin Buckellew, who scored twice for the Spuds. “We just had to bear down.” Buckellew scored Moorhead’s first and third goals, and both were on breakaways.
The first goal was set up by a pass from Ian Cochran, and his second – a short-handed tally – was all his own doing. Buckellew took the puck from the right circle in his own zone, and weaved his way through four WBL defenders before beating the Bears goaltender with a backhand atop the crease. “I was trying to get it to my other winger, but it kind of came back to me,” Buckellew said. “I just did what I could.”
Tyler Larson made it 4-1 just 2:13 later, and that proved to be a pretty big goal. “You look at that short-handed goal, and that was probably the back-breaker,” Morinville said. “But Larson’s goal was huge, because that gave us four.” Another big goal came from Jordan Doschadis, who scored with only 32 seconds left in the seconds to give Moorhead a 2-1 lead going into the final period.
“That was a big one for giving us some momentum,” Buckellew said. That led to the 4-1 lead, which White Bear Lake (0-2) nearly recovered from.
The Bears got a power-play goal from Zach Hoffman, and Chad Lowell’s second goal of the night made it 4-3 with 2:26 to play. Braden Rahman and Trent Johnson managed to flip in empty-net goals 32 seconds apart to ice the game. "
SOG were 25-13 in favor of the spuds through 2 periods, but the third was all WBL. Final save totals were Collette 15-8-2—25. M, Marks 8-4-10—22.

They did similar things at the South game. Some students have no respect or class for other teams. Either way, they still lost. Must've been a long weekend for those 40 some students and WBL's team. The Best 4th Liner wrote:White Bears student section was immature.
