Who will hand Hill Murray their first loss?
They are the defending state champs and just beat the best team in the polls. They will probably stay there and #1 in the QRF until someone decides to beat them, and it'll probably take more than one loss. Over their next 11 games there are only 2 teams I'd say couldn't beat them. In the Schwan Cup they'll play Minnetonka, probably Edina, then probably Centennial. If they make it to 13-0, it's an easy coast from there, although tough to predict at this point.

i think centennial has a better shot of beating them in the schwans cup than white bear especially after how poorly white bear has startedbreakout wrote:Early on, I thought Hill Murray was the best team in the state. A win over Edina proved it.
White Bear or Edina (Schwann's Cup) are teams that can beat them. It would be fun to watch Hill and Edina on a big sheet in Blaine.

Agreed, but the X is in St Paul...
"No one in thier conference will come close to them."
This is why the games aren't played on paper buddy. Last year they lost at Tartan, beat Mahtomedi by 1 and 2 goals, tied at South St Paul, beat St Thomas by 2 and 1 goals, one that was in OT. And most would call last year's team better than this year.
In their conference I'd say St Thomas has the best shot. They are 4-2 against them in the last three seasons, two wins by 3 and two by 1. This year they have a good shot at meeting in the Schwan Cup too. Both are good teams and by the time they play each other at least 9 games will have gone by for each team. That all being said Tartan beat them last year and South St Paul tied them, which is better than St Thomas managed, so anything's possible.
They are also 0-3-1 against Holy Angels in the last three years. If it doesn't happen in the Schwan Cup, Holy Angels is the best bet in my opinion.

I agree. AHA has their number the last four times they have played, but AHA first needs to get past the bellhops from St. Thomas and then the always pesky WBL or Centennial. Centennial has AHA's number, and WBL always seems to take AHA to a shoot out in this tourney. But, if AHA gets to the final of the Schwans against Hill I am taking AHA.
AHA will not have their goaltenders tested, exept by the Culver Academy before this, so that is one strike. But you never know.

I totally agree with you. But this years team is just as good as last years, they are smaller but faster. Last year Furne did so much by himself this year three lines are rolling already. The other part is the teams you mention are all worse then last year.
STA - loss already, will miss Rooney, Sainty and Walters.
SSP - lost to Park, Park handled them pretty well.
Mahto - Had a nice senior class and Marshall can't do it by himself
Tartan - got crushed by Woodbury
AHA - who have they played?

I think they will win every game until the semifinal matchup between them and Edina in the Schwans cup. (That is assuming both hill and Edina make it there). I think it will kind of be like the match up between Edina and tonka last year. Edina took the first and then tonka took the second. Hill and Edina are the best teams in state and it is very difficult to beat a good team twice. If hill and Edina meet again Edina will hand them their first loss, but if hill faces a different opponent in the Schwans cup they will win it all. After the cup, they will ride the momentum back to the tourney. Unless we see a “holy angels” screw up.
