i think that the exchange program knows that they play hockey and try to put them either out east or in minnesota and if worse comes to worse there's always wisconsinBlue&Gold wrote:Hey, don't get me wrong. But I'm "just sayin'". I mean, if you think it's OK for a kid who has played in their home town for many years and dreamed of playing for their high school team, only to be moved down to JV because of an exchange student, then I'm OK with it too. I mean, it's all about life lessons, right?
But I do think you all need to say it's either OK or it's not for someone to come in a play for a year at a new school. Don't give me the MSHSL rulebook definition, I want to know why it's OK for some, and not others? (I suppose that if this exchange student helped a private school to a state championship, the roof would fall in on the rule...)

Why didn't they go to Nebraska? Have you ever seen Nebraska? I'm not sure I'd go there even if I was a foreign exchange student specializing in agriculture. I mean, it's a large, uglier version of Iowa.Blue&Gold wrote:Hey, don't get me wrong. (notice the smileys?) most exchange students come so that they can learn the basic lifestyle of an american, and also have the opportunity to learn in an american school. there are programs set up within families that are willing to take a foreign exchange student in. i am sure if a kid wants to go to america and learn for a period of time, is a hockey player wants to continue playing they can find a way to work it out. i dont understand what all the hoopla is about

Funny thing - I'm from Nebrask. Very close to Kearney. And the best part of that is that I'm FROM Nebraska, and not IN Nebraska.east hockey wrote:Why didn't they go to Nebraska? OK, I was able to insert some laughs in this thread, my hope from the beginning...
