Is Apple Valley the most underrated team in the State?
After an impressive showing in the preseason scrimmages, a win over Eastview and an absolute thumping of Rosemount, is Apple Valley the dark horse this year?
Gretz and Nanne are both solid goalies, while Michaelson, Warner and Fischer lead the way up front.
Derek Thompson is a solid defenseman, as is Hulbert.

Sorry but neither of Apple Valley's opponents so far impress me. Rosemount is 0 - 4 and Eastview is 2 -1 but has only beat mediocre teams at best. Apple Valley may be ok, but lets see how they do against some better competion Burnsville, Jefferson, Eden Prairie. Eagan also beat rosemount by a big score but have since gone 0 - 2. Top Ten? No way, not this year.

2 games into the year. Let's give it until after the holidays before we begin the talk of underrated teams.scoreboard33 wrote:After an impressive showing in the preseason scrimmages, a win over Eastview and an absolute thumping of Rosemount, is Apple Valley the dark horse this year?

Too early in the season to really formulate opinions on who is underrated/overrated. I think everyone needs another couple weeks to really gather a solid analysis of these teams. Also, with A.V. in the top 20 of the LPH rankings, they really are not under the radar too much. The only thing I'm leaning towards right now is in 7AA, Cloquet and Anoka aren't very good, and Forest Lake has a decent club.

Both games have been lake so far. They do have two solid tenders and 1 very solid line. They also have good supporting lines though and 4 good defensman. It is still early in the year though let's wait until they get to play Burnsville, Jefferson or Eden Prairie to may be see where they are sitting at. The win over Eastview is hard to justify because I think EV is down this year and may not be a top 20 team but they are a team who still could be come years end. I would say the top 20 is good for AV at this point. I believe they have Burnsville this week on saturday. If they continue to do the things they have through this week maybe we'll talk a little more but gotta prove consistency first.notorious17 wrote:2 solid goalies but no way a top 10 team. They have one solid line. But lets see how the do in the lake.
Looking ahead at sections though I would say going off of the season so far they would be a top 3 team in that section with CDH and Woodbury.
