Sportsmanship
First, I am admittedly a MG hockey fan, so possibly I see some things and not others. The number of penalties were about even in the game between GM and R. I would generally say in any game that both teams sink to the least common level of sportsmanship.
It will be interesting to see where both teams are at at the end of the season. It was a great tourney overall, congrats to EP, this was one of the better First Tests of the Best in many years, many competitive games worthy of watching and it wasn't clear at the outset who the winner would be. Congrats to Rochester!!
Rogers has their own rink and it is at the high school.
There is a Rogers High School? Dang, I thought that was 1/2 to the cabin.
How has the high school team done in high school? I have not seen them in the trny? How about football or even futbol? Do they play nine man?

Iwearmy...
U cant be serious. Thay have a high school team and their 4th year as a school WON a conf. championship and went to sections and upset Champlin, and lost to Blaine who went to state. I don't know where you are from but you should see them play sometime before you get involved and rip on them.

For the geographically challenged person, Rogers is 5 miles NW of Maple Grove
.
First I want to say I have a kid who plays hockey in one of the suburban associations and I am not involved with the Rogers or Maple Grove programs at all.
I was able to watch many of the Rogers games at the EP Tourney and saw different personalities depending on who their opponent was. I will put their top two lines up against anyone in the state. They are a well coached well conditioned team that can play a physical game when needed or can skate with anyone. What is not to like??
I know the character traits of a couple of the Rogers coaches and know for a fact that they do not condone or tolerate dirty play and cheap shots.
If I remember right a Maple Grove kid was the first to take a penalty for hitting from behind. After that, Rogers brought out their physical play and dominated the game in every aspect. There penalty kill was phenomenal, their puck movement and overall system was working very well.
The referee in this game should stick to Squirts because he couldn't differentiate between a hard clean hit and one that one that contained something worthy of a penalty. He seemed dazed and confused and was looking to the linesman to confirm his calls.
Rogers is still a small association compared to the metro associations and I believe they required the team to have 15 skaters but don't quote me on that.
Bottom line is this team is well coached and has some great talent and for those 3rd line players and parents I believe your kids will benefit more from practicing with this team and playing with limited game ice time than they would playing on the B team.
I would love to have my kid practice with this team, he would learn far more than what he is learning in a large metro association.

Hey Hockey Guy...figure it out. Obviously you don't know much about the conference if you believe those teams to be the powerhouses. Where are you from to say that? I can only laugh at how farfetched that is. And why do you assume I am on that team this year or have ever been? You know what they say when you make assumptions. And this whole conversation is about the Rogers bantam team so now I can see that you agree. They do have a good A bantam team. Thanks!!!
