The "best of" threads will perhaps get people to go watch games that they ordinarily probably would not attend. There have been numerous accurately described "best of" players mentioned in this forum that have got me out of the house to watch,... Thunstrom, Jones, Hogan, Stoa, Chute, etc.
I think these types of threads are definitely not "embarassing" as one poster mentioned and I am all for them.

Alana Stangl from Eagan looks like she could develop into a nice player, pretty quick, always around the net and can bury it

Hill Murray have two freshman D from Stillwater who are impressive.

Sarah Bruchu D who played a regular shift as an 8th grader she is very competitive, fast and physical and has a big shot. You may see her a bit at forward also as she has nice hands and good vision.

Mikayla Curtis who is new to the school this year is a tall 5'9" D with a very long reach. She has been thrown into the mix with early season injuries and has played outstanding against WBL and Stillwater.

Not sure I understand your point Gopher 9? One is a private Catholic HS serving St. Paul and the East Side and Western Wisconsin and Eden Prairie is a community school - don't get your logic? The school is just west on hwy 5 of Stillwater/Lake Elmo maybe 2 miles from Lake Elmo city limits. There are kids on the Hill roster from Stillwater-Lake Elmo (2 V), White Bear-Vadnais Heights (5V), Woodbury (9 V), Cottage Grove (1 V), Mahtomedi (1V) and the JV has other communities including Hudson and New Richmond, the school has kids from something like 15 communitites and has for +30 Years but the school is under 1000 students. Most of them went to Catholic Grade schools. You find the same thing at any private school in the metro and across all of thier student bodies and teams - they pull from pretty large areas. If you look at all the teams it doesn't mean they are the best - lots of kids are at HM because it is a great school. The website to prospective students says:

"Hill-Murray is a private, Catholic school for grades 7-12, welcoming students of all faiths. It is one of only 19 Minnesota high schools accredited as college preparatory by the North Central Association, and one of only two metro schools cited by American College Testing (ACT) for its rigorous, college preparatory coursework"

Looking back HM has been a good but not great team on the girls side in hockey but thanks for the All Star endorsement I hope you are right! I am pretty sure girls at HM came more for faith based education school than hockey.

OE is still an option for any kid to any school there is just a penalty now after 9th grade. I have not ever said anything regarding EP - heck I admire the convergnce.....they did an excellent job of attracting a great group of HS players from other HS programs to play together under a great coach somehow  - it resulted in excellence and some of the best young players from the community going elsewhere as pointed out by others on these page multiple times - no problem - freedom of choice and open enrollment is great. It was also an example other parents, schools and admin pointed to in changing the OE transfer rules as it related to sports though basketball and football probably had more issues and examples, but all good and we all are in a new era.

Eden Prairie has great depth in their youth program and a huge enrollment and a great coach they will do fine....not to mention with SuperStar as a supporter how can you not return to greatness?

I agree with this one. Also LaShomb (D) & Reibert (F) of SSP and Blaisdell (F) of Vis/SPA.

Sorry but I hate absolutes. Statements such as "no one", "everybody", "always", and "never" tend to be exaggerations. I agree that Milicia McMillen, Morgan Illikainen and Hannah Brandt are excellent players and probably at the top of the class right now but I'm not ready to say that "no one...stacks up". These girls have started out as 8th graders and we all have seen what they can do but there are other players that are just getting started and its a long 4 years before anyone should make such definitive judgements.

Stillwater has a pretty good 9th grade forward (#12) that is very impressive. Any 9th grader who makes that lineup as a forward has to be good.

well if nothing else McMillan of reck is certainly tops in penalty minutes. 34 minutes to date, double that of any other player out there at any grade.

It's always interesting to see who jumps out in grades 10-12 that isn't even on the radar... Most are by the end of 9th grade if not before but there are always some that come on strong during the HS years...

nmehockeydad, nikki Logergren not even close. I am quickly losing patience with this forum as i have been forewarned that it is filled with young kids and adults who don't know anything about hockey. It is a chat room, and a good friend of mine said that it would be good hockey talk. But already some of you have such moronnic views I know is coming from kids or mornoic adults so goodbye forum!

Your hockey knowledge sucks too as the freshmen from grand rapids is Molly Illikainen and Morgan Illikainen is the 10th grade defensemen.

Our organization in Coon rapids would never lower itself to the stupid comments made in this forum. i have mainly made comments about the north teams as we have traveled up there extensively recently, but I think there is always a quality experience from the north trips! Not saying some south trips haven't led to some ordeals either.

I would definately throw Curtis in the mix. I watched the Coon Rapids Elk River Game on cable. She went toe to toe with Bona and gave them fits. 2 G 1 A. She is a 94 Fresman.

Elk River took out Section favorite Moorehead 6-1. She had 3 G 2A.
St Cloud guy said she is the best player in their section.

KuKowski at Eastview hast to be considered. I believe she is top Scorer at eastview. Crafty and good hockey sense.

Eder Zjedlik Stillwater has started to explode on the scene and is close. Tough line up to crack and will bet at the top scoring depths on their team by the end of year.

Lisa Marvin at Warroad also 94 young freshamn. She seems to becoming on lately. Can Score and has great defensive coverage. Great two way player. I watched her when they came down cleaned house on the metro teams. she looked good.

Also, One of the things to consider is support players who are playing
with these individuals. They can greatly enhance and individuals opportunities.

I haven't seen a mention of Erika Allen of Roseville. She played well as an 8th grader and is the #1 goalie at Roseville as a 9th grader.

I apologize! I did not realize that this forum was populated by Conehead, the ultimate hockey god of Minnesota. It is a forum to post the top ninth graders that people know of in Minnesota. Get real! Besides, what the heck is a moronnic view or what is a mornoic adult? Probably something only a MORON would know about!

I heard from Centennial they have two freshamn on Varsity. Kayla Feuttchman? and Melissa Holt. They are not great yet but i believe they will end up both being great players. My team played them in the State championship in 12's and they both played a big factor, both scoring. So all your freshman watch out for them in the future and also Curtis great player.. good hands.

Roseville doesn't have any players to look at. No NDP players, no colleges looking at their kids, maybe a write up of two decent forwards and not much else...smoke and mirrors baby, thats how they win, smoke and mirrors!!

Brausen and Capistrant are both very good forwards and they have some good D. D1 schools looking at Capistrant. Granted Roseville is not as deep as past years, but this team is legit. It is not smoke and mirros.
