STAR WARS

Post by Zamman »

Tonight was the annual STAR WARS inter-squad game, where we see both varsity and JV as well as the team collecting food for the local food shelf.
I was only able to be there the first half, but what I saw was pretty good. As usual they will be fast and small and will surprise some people. They still have a tough road getting past Jefferson and Edina, but you never know. The team is pretty much the same, but the goaltending is different and I feel better than in years past. At D they have a couple of new comers in Michael Reilly and Aj Antal. Up front they have who I feel will be Mr Hockey in Danny Mattson and a cast of returning players from last years team. They open the season on Tuesday at Richfield against Red Wing and that is when the fun begins.

It was a bit of a rebuilding job last year for AHA and i'm not sure if they are exactly done with that rebuilding era but as always i expect AHA to play hard versus non conference teams and to dominate their conference play once again. It's always hard to judge this team and how good they are because they always usually blow out their conference foes regardless if it was the Jay barribal driven team or the team from last year. So with that said i'll just expect this team to be a contender later in the year but any team in the state will have troubles being in the same section as Edina and Jefferson

It could be a tough year but don't count them out, the Reilly twins are spectacular little guys, very crafty little guys and with Mattson still on the team we will see if he can have another stand out season like his sophomore year, should be fun to watch!

They are going to have a good record like always becuase they play in a very easy conference. They also will have probably the best player in the state in Mattson. It's gonna hurt to see Webb go back to Edina.

The stars may not be up to the level they were in the past, but they will definitely be a very competitive and fast team this year. Those Reilly kids can skate like no other, they will be playing key roles this year. Theres really only 2 new players that are new to the program; both of which have a great amount of talent displayed last wednesday night. They are all looking back on last year as a learning experience and have enough fight in them to play some good hockey against the top teams. Both varsity and jv goalies are pretty good so i dont think the loss of webb will effect them to too much extent. They have got a tough schedule this year and i wish them the best of luck
