I don't think you can count out Redwing, I would move them up a bit.northshore guy wrote:It will be tough to pick these as some teams lost some very good players. New Prague lost Ambroz and Hrabe, HA lost Smith but still has Romatowski. Here is my prediction:
Famington
Holy Angels
Shakopee
Hutchinson
New Prague
Northfield
Rew Wing
Prior Lake
It will be a much closer confrence this year when a game could go either way.

Agree on all! New Prague is very agressive and can overwelm some, northshore guy wrote:I agree, Alleva is really good but that is really all they have. Northfield has a pretty good young goalie and Dvorak. Red Wing might be able to pass one of them. New Prague will be down offensively but they, too have a pretty good young goalie.
will be interesting to see as season plays out.

Looking at Shakopees goalie/ game stats on max prep from last year.northshore guy wrote:Shakopee has a slight chance if they can get consistant goaltending- they have a decent offense and haven't lost a D in 2 years. They will really have to shut down the middle- it will be a more wide open race this year than in the past that's for sure.
it appears your goalie should expect to see about 36 shots on her in a game, hope she is prepared.

The Shakopee gaolie was put into a tough spot last year. The #1 goalie got hurt during the South St. Paul game and she had to fill in and play against Blake (0-6), Breck (1-5), Red Wing (4-3) and Kennedy (1-2 and whom Shakopee outshot 49-11). She does need to be ready.hockeya1a wrote:Looking at Shakopees goalie/ game stats on max prep from last year.northshore guy wrote:Shakopee has a slight chance if they can get consistant goaltending- they have a decent offense and haven't lost a D in 2 years. Not to burst any bubbles, but I watched NP play against Richfield last night and if people feel that NP will challenge in the conference, the conference is going to be very even. I think that NP has a tough road because of the loss of Ambroz, but they also may be young. They lost to Richfield 1 - 0. I saw a few good skaters and some shooters, but they will need to put it all together.
On another note, I saw that Hutchinson beat my schools girls from AHA last night. Now I have not seen anyone else play except Richfield, NP and Apple Valley so my opinion is very small. I get to see most of the teams from Missota. As the season goes on and I watch them I can give a better assessment. It is still real early and everything goes out the window as the season progresses.

Farmington
Holy Angels
Shakopee
And the rest would be a toss up. Even the three listed could be mixed around. I don't know a lot about Prior Lake this year. Northfield just beat New Prague which mixes things up some. Red Wing is a strong team now and its hard to count them out. This is what'll make it a fun season to watch for the Missota Conference.

Farmington
Farmington beat Prior Lake last week 4-0 in the new Dakotah rink. It was a close game in the beginning but the large sheet of ice gave some of our girls a lot of room to move around.
They played a very very tight and physical game versus Lakeville South last night at home. It ended 4-1 for Farmington due to some excellent goaltending, strong defense, and some really nice scoring plays. Bauman got a hat trick on the empty netter. It was a real nail bitter with the score tied 1-1 after two periods.
The Tigers are now 5-1-0 after a pretty easy schedule so far. They are a very young team with several 8th, 9th, and 10th graders on the roster.
The test will come in the next few games versus Lakeville North, Holy Angels, and Edina.

Wow, I say Kudos to Farmington for putting a team the caliber of Edina on the schedule. That is something they haven't done in the past.GoTigers wrote:Farmington beat Prior Lake last week 4-0 in the new Dakotah rink. Re: Farmington
It's really about time- they have had some pretty soft non-conference games in the past. They will be tough. How about Htuch and Northfield? Seems like they are playing some very confident hockey right now. The Missota will look quite different this year that is for sure.allhoc11 wrote:Wow, I say Kudos to Farmington for putting a team the caliber of Edina on the schedule. I really think the conference wiiner will be HA or Shako. Shakopee was beating up Farmington pretty good- but had some mental errors that let Farm. back in- 3-3 tie. We'll see- could be fun to watch in the next few weeks. Do you know the standings right now?
HA- 4-1
Northfield- 4-1
Shako- 2-1-1
Farm- 1-1-1
Hutch ?
Rew wing, PL and New Prague will not be in in-

I'm new to girls' hockey so sorry if I ask stupid questions. Wondering has HA always won Missota? I heard they lost key players last year, but still have one of the top players in the state. It looks like Shakopee is playing really well right now and could take it this year if they continue what they're doing.
