Evidently CR is that bad...but it shouldn't be that surprising, they graduated several 3 yr varsity seniors, have had coaching turmoil at the HS level...and dwindling numbers in the youth program.
MG looked really good vs. Anoka on Saturday...they are a speedy team up front and they're D move the puck well...they can match up with Cent. and Blaine from a skating standpoint...so other factors will determine the outcome of these future contests IMO.
Haven't seen them play but have talked to a few people that have: Maple Grove overall has very good speed and has two very solid lines that can both score. The defense & goal tending both seem to be solid. Of course MG hasn't really played anyone besides Wayzata early in the year so the jury is still out...
1. Centennial (Tons of fire power - Definitely the team to beat)
2. Blaine (Very well balanced on both sides)
3. Maple Grove (Team speed and good goal tending)
4. Elk River (Great goal tending so far, need to start scoring to hang with the top three)
5. Andover (Haven't seen or heard much)
6. Osseo (Good mix on both sides - Goal tending needs to step it up)
7. Champlin Park
8. Anoka
9. North Metro
10. Coon Rapids

Im pretty sure Anoka and Centennial tied for it
That is correct...both teams went 15-3 in the NWSC last season and they split they're two head-to head games, so they were co-champions. A next to last conf. game loss by Anoka to Osseo cost them the out-right title.
We will learn a lot about Centennial tonight against DE...who has 4 D who played in the Elite League this fall along with a veteran goalie. Centennial is the stroinger team up-front and is solid on D...but has a 1st year starting goalie.

BUUURRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And your team...
Despite going 21-7 and winning a share of the NWSC title...coming up short to Cloquet equaled a failed season.
IMO the Bengals have a great Head HS Coach and I give him the lions share of credit for Blaine's recent run to State...along with some very good players over the years.
The cupboard is pretty bare at Anoka this season...I'll care more about they're fortunes in another 4-5 years
No one will go to Meadow Creek. I haven't heard one decent player even mention it. Good luck establishing that program. You won't draw from the Northwest Suburbs.

Totino-Grace has been doing it for years.
This is true but totino has had a well known program for quite some time now. I mean i honestly hadnt even heard of Meadow Creek until this thread and i live in Lino Lakes

I would take away that lions share you gave to the coach. The players and the youth organization constantly producing great players made those state teams. I've heard of some questionable coaching over there.

This is your 1st post and you make that statement? ...with all due respect...what you've heard simply wrong...although the competition created at Blaine the past few years by the coaching staff for playing time has likely resulted in some dis-enchanted parents (whom I suspect are your souces)....the fact is the Blaine coaching staff works 12 months a year on developing their HS program...and the success they've had the past 3-4 years is the result...they're youth program is good, but no better than their biggest rivals the past few years...Centennial, Maple Grove and Anoka...and I have no bias...as I'm not from Blaine.
Yes that was my first post only because I forgot my username since I haven't been on this board since the end of last season and simply forgot it. I certainly agree that Blaine is no better or worse than those rival schools, and what a coach can make of the incoming youth players can demonstrate great coaching. So with the Blaine players on the high school team right now, the group of kids that skated with Bjugstad, were top ten in the state throughout most of their youth if I'm not mistaken, then if the coaching staff is the main reason why the program turned around, then you should be predicting a top 3 finish at state this year for Blaine? And any respected school in the state has a coaching staff working 12 months out of the year. I just don't see how coach Aus, taking over after a 2000 State Championship team and not producing better than 8 wins for 5 years, can get the "lion's share" of credit for this program.

I think Forest Lake will be number 3 or 4 instead of GR because GR just doesn't have enough offense. They averaged 21 shots a game in the Edina Classic so how are they going to get shots against DE. Forest Lake has a great goaltender in Moberg, which will help them. Also, Rendle is a very talented player, but doesn't have a very good team which makes him do a lot on his own.

Not sure why this is under this topic, but...Rapids already beat Flake this year, so Flake will have to do something significant to move ahead of Rapids in the 7AA standings.
1. Centennial
2. Maple Grove
3. Blaine
4. Elk River
5. Andover
6. Osseo
7. Champlin Park
8. Anoka
9. North Metro
10. Coon Rapids
Is Coon Rapids that bad this year?
Yes Crapids is that bad this year. They did lose their only three players that qualified as hockey players. Randall, Loisell and Verling. Nothing left over at Cook Arena. But, I really cant see Centennial losing the NWSC this year, they should have won it last year but Aus managed to produce a horse shoe. Then again when isnt the NWSC a crapshoot?
Probably right, Blaine kind of looked like a 1 player team and probably will be towards the bottom of the NWSC next year if he leaves. Centennial is a top contender.
