Green Pool
1. Edina Green
2. ElkRiver
3. Stillwater
4. AV

White Pool
1. Mankato
2. Rochester Red
3. Lakeville North
4. Edina White

Black Pool
O/MG, Eden Prarie, Fargo Flyers, Centennial - total toss up - should all be close games.

The Black Pool is too close to call as to who goes to semi's and if they beat up on each other look for the wild card to be the #2 team from the Green or White pool.

Gotta go with Edina Green to win it though.

Should be a great tournament... The black bracket will be very fun to see and watch all four of those teams. Should be a great event. Thanks to the Edina Association for adding Squirts to their Invitational.

Green Pool Winners
Edina Green and Elk River
Prediction - Edina Green wins Pool

White Pool Winners
Lakeville North and Mankato
Prediction - Lakeville due to Mankato only having 9 skaters

Black Pool Winners
OMG and Eden Prairie
Prediction - too close to call - Eden Prairie and OMG should be a 1 or 2 goal game.

Wild Card Prediction - Elk River

Finals EP vs Edina Green.

Does Edina Green get the chance to pay EP back for there only lose last year?
Or does EP have the upper hand in this match up right now?

Final Score Edina Green 3 EP 5 open net goal.

Does anyone know if there is a gate fee for this tournament or is it come and go as you like? Just curious...

Thanks-

Edina's top team handled Stillwater 7-3 and the other Edina team was hammered by Mankato's 9 skaters 8-nil.

Fargo 2 - OMG 1. Fargo scored two goals in last 35 seconds with the last one being with 2 seconds left from outside the blueline. Good win for Fargo and tough loss for OMG.

If Fargo beats Centennial and OMG beats EP than Fargo advances
If OMG beats EP and Centennial beats Fargo than OMG advances
If EP beats OMG and Centennial beats Fargo than EP advances
If EP beats OMG and Centennial beats Fargo than Centennial advances

All 4 teams still have a chance at advancing.

Pool play has completed and here are the Squirt A teams for the Edina Invitational semi-finals. Not all of the game results have been posted on the Edina Hockey website, but here are the teams that are playing later today.

Code: Select all

4:30pm
#2 Edina Green vs #3 Eden Prairie

5pm
#1 Lakeville North vs #WC Mankato
Elk River was edged out for the (WC) Wild Card by Mankato. Lakeville North was the #1 seed resulting from the tie breakers over Edina Green.

Should be some great hockey.

Black Pool with Centennial, Fargo, OMG and Eden Prairie proved to be the most competitive top to bottom of the 3 pools.

Centennial tied Fargo - Fargo rallied again and scored to tie game within last minute of game - both teams bounced from tournament.

EP over OMG 5 to 3 - the winner advancing to final 4 teams - good game to watch with both teams having a lot of scoring opportunities. Rematch in Bloomington in 2 weeks. EP advances and OMG is bounced.

Edina Green over Elk River 6 to 4 - another good game with both teams generating scoring chances. Edina advances and ER is bounced.

Lakeville - Mankato - GET REAL!!!!!!!!

Post by weekend@bernies »

Wow Lakeville takes the top seed, BIG DEAL - lets see to do this they had to take a timeout with 1 minute in change left in the game vs. Mankato when they had a 4 - 1 lead. During the timeout the Lakeville coach leans over the glass to speak with the Mankato coach, hmm wonder what happens next. Play resumes Lakeville gets a clean 2 on 1 break - no shot or pass taken by the Lakeville skater they dumped the puck in the corner then Mankato picks up the puck skates untouched all the way down the ice and scores. Lakeville wins 4 - 2 insuring they are the number one seed and Mankato is the Wild Card, now Lakeville gets to play Mankato again rather than play a team they know they can't beat!!!

Too bad Elk River and Edina didn't conspire and play for a tie putting both of them in the next round, rather Elk River actually pulled their goalie trying to win the game not CARING ABOUT THE GOAL DIFFERENTIAL TIE BREAKER - THEY WANTED TO EARN IT!!

Lakeville coaches you showed NO CLASS!!!! YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, GOOD LUCK WITH Mankato I sure hope you can beat them because you won’t beat Edina or EP!!!

not sure what's more pathetic..the reality that this story could be true or the fact you made up a new profile to post your ridiculous rant about it, either way, pathetic best describes both

Probably their oldest kid playing hockey. Everything seems monumental then. Haven't been at this long enough to know how it works. And besides...the pools for the Squirt A tourney were "obviously" set up so that Edina Green could win it all.

Can someone substantiate this? - this would be the first time I ever heard of a team winning by 4 to 1 call a timeout with one minute left!!! If that is accurate I can only think something is not on the up and up.

There were a number of good teams that did not advance - Fargo, Centennial, OMG and Elk River put forth an honest effort and are competitive teams.

Again, if that situation is true, I wonder if the Edina tourney directors could have called foul and bounced both teams if they actually conspired to manipulate the outcome.

was it a empty net goal? Or was the goalie in on it as well? Sounds a bit extreme if you are not 100% sure..
