MN Whitecaps vs. Team USA Januray 17, 2009 3PM Aldrich Arena

Post by joehockey »

In celebration of Hockey Day in Minnesota The MN Whitecaps play Team USA January 17 at 3 PM at Aldrich Arena at 3 PM. Come support the best Women in Hockey Today!

There is no gate fee for the event but all will be encouraged to give a tax deductible donation to support the Whitecaps ($5/person is suggested). This is a fundraiser for the Whitecaps so anyone who wants to see great hockey and thank the Whitecaps for all they do in coaching youth and for doing youth hockey fund raisers. The ice and announcers were donated by Hill Murray and they are providing game day volunteers.

The Whitecaps are inviting all fans of girls hockey to attend and are sending details to HS Coaches, Youth and Girl Scout Troops to attend. The Whitecaps want to support efforts to get more girls in the game and there will be a Girls Hockey Expo in conjunction with the game top girls training programs (OS, CODP, FHIT, Total Hockey), manufacturers/hockey stores, MN Hockey (to supply info about programs and NDP), Leagues (Showcase, OS, Two Nations Female Hockey League). If you are a HS program consider attending, bring your local youth organization - ask every youth player to bring a friend who might want to play hockey next year. There will be special offers and door prizes. The movie Pond Hockey will be available at the game.

Kim McCullough of Total Female Hockey who writes for Lets Play Hockey is coming to town from Toronto to support this event. Kim played at Dartmouth and was a member of the Canadian National Teams she has committed her career to "helping girls achieve thier dreams in hockey" and is an expert trainer of players on and off the ice in areas of skill, strength, quickness, nutrition and achieving goals. She will be doing seminars over the weekend to friends of the Whitecaps and will speak to fans at the game and be available to meet with coaches, youth and HS players during the game.

Celebrate Hockey Day in Minnesota!

Hi we are players from the MN Whitecaps the only US Professional Women’s Hockey Team. We know first-hand that High School Hockey is great and want to invite your High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Team to join the Whitecaps in the celebration of Hockey Day in Minnesota. The MN Whitecaps play Team USA January 17 at 3 PM at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood, MN at 3 PM. Come support the best Women in Hockey Today!

Each year the Whitecaps do camps and game fundraisers to support Girls HS and youth Hockey programs. January 17th is the Whitecaps one fundraiser game to support our players who are coaches and involved in taking girls hockey to the next level. There is no gate fee for the event but we hope those attending all will contribute a tax deductible donation to support the Whitecaps ($5/person is suggested). The ice and announcers were donated by Hill Murray HS and they are providing game day volunteers.

The Whitecaps have invited all fans of girls hockey to attend and are sending details to HS Coaches, Youth and Girl Scout Troops. We want to support efforts to grow girls hockey and there will be a Girls Hockey Expo in conjunction with the game top girls training programs (OS, CODP, FHIT, Total Hockey, Karns Skating, Diane Ness Skating, National Sports Center and the Super Rink), manufacturers/hockey stores, MN Hockey (to supply info about programs and NDP), Leagues (Showcase, OS, Two Nations Female Hockey League).

We know the kids in your community look up to you as HS players - please consider attending, bring or encourage your local youth organization and ask every youth player to bring a friend who might want to play hockey next year. We promise this will be great hockey, fun and a great introduction to the game.

Great game today attended by about 900 fans one side of Aldrich was almost full - not sure but close to $7000 raised to support the Whitecap players fees.

Lots of HS teams had players there - Holy Angels, Hill Murray, N. St. Paul, Roseville, N. Branch, Woodbury, Red Wing, White Bear and lots of youth teams Tartan, Woodbury, White Bear, Edina, Chisago Lakes, Hudson....the Girls Hockey Expo gave the girls alot of information and provided lots of door prizes. Most interesting reaction by many on the - WOW I have to work on my shot! Hats off to the Whitecaps and Team USA this was great hockey - amazing to watch the youth and HS players glued to their seats and focused on the hockey play/game.
