Tartan vs Hill Murray

Post by titanzdman »

Will the once mighty Pioneer Hockey Club, be able to pull it together to beat the Titans of Tartan, in the Tartan Ice Arena? Hill coming off 3 consecutive losses, and being humiliated at home by the Cadets last night!
Tartan with an impressive win last night over a good Packer hockey team 5-2. In Cowtown!!! Prediction: Tartan 6- Hill Murray 1. Some tough losses early for Tartan and injuries hampered the first part of the season. But remember this is the same team that almost made it to state as A Bantams two years ago, plus Lovick, Okane and Abrahamson. Tartan beat them last year at Tartan..and will out hustle and out hit them all afternoon! This will make 4 straight losses for Hill. The way to beat Hill is hit em all day long. Hill is over rated! :!:

I will agree that Hill has a tendency to play a couple conference opponents very poorly (poorer better states it) away, those two being Tartan and South St Paul, but that is no excuse for a boldly ignorant prediction of 6-1 in Tartan's favor. It will probably be a very close game, decided by less than 2 goals either way, with Hill shutting out Tartan when they play at Aldrich for the rematch.

Seeing Hill lose is always nice, but them winning makes the St Thomas rematch mean that much more.
Prediction:
4-2 Hill

HM will be missing 4 key players for this game, and possibly for the rest of the year. I know the names and I know the reasons but am not saying. You will figure out the names soon enough. The kids made a mistake and now they are paying for it.

I think HM will come out flying in this game, just to show they arent down and out because of the news and results lately

3-2 HM

Missing four kids would hurt any high school team. But hill has depth and i know that they are comeing off a few losses but i think the are going to pull this one off.

Like Sachisi, I know the names and the reason, but revealing either would serve no positive purpose here, so I am going to follow the same prudent path he took and not reveal names or reasons. I will say that it appears extremely likely that the four players are finished for the season.

OUCH
Mistake? I don't think so

Was hoping Tartan could beat em with their full squad.

Already in the news

Hill-Murray

Post by stpaul »

Mistake is not the right word. Complete stupidity is a better description. This explains the poor performance last night. They all probably knew what was coming. These 4 knotheads have ruined their senior seasons and taken the rest of of team out of contention for conference, section and state. There is very little scoring punch left on this team. I give Bill Lechner and Hill-Murray a lot of credit for not sweeping this under the rug and actually enforcing rules.

Except for it the way it sounds maybe rules were not followed -the rules call for a three game suspension in most cases, not expulsion from the team. Most kids do make a mistake in their lives and sounds like in paper and in forum no second chance given.

The rules your referencing are more like the minimum punishment from the MSHSL. A school can do what ever they feel is necessary over and above those of the MSHSL. Good for H-M for not bowing down to the prima-donnas.

yes a inside source says that the 4 players involved are kicked off the team it is a hill murray rule and lechner makes the whole team sign a paper at the beginning of the season saying you take respondsibility for your actions and the result of it and what they did results in removal from the team and there are no exceptions

Kinda silly to not reveal the names, as it will be found out in less than 24 hours. But that is too bad.

To change this in a different direction, are their hockey careers over? Not sure what they did, but they still have hockey skill, do kids in their shoes still go try out for USHL teams or DIII programs ever?

It's all about life lessons. Kids knew exactly what the rules & consequences were long before the first puck was ever dropped. The expectation & standards are pretty high at Hill & so are the consequences. If ya can't handle it or disagree with them, stay away. If you do decide to come & adhere to things, the rewards are often pretty special.

The kids made a poor decision and now they & their families must deal with it. Nothing new to teenagers, just part of life. I hope they can gather something positive from it. I also hope it doesn't erase all the positive memories they have experienced in high school. I hope they reflect on the positives as well as the negatives when looking back someday.

With every dismissal comes opportunities. Other kids will be given more ice time, some will be pushed into taking on more leadership roles, and kids may be moved up from JV. Adversity often develops character & hopefully that will be the case here. Silver lining is that the team has a couple of months to respond before games take on special meaning. The ultimate goal is still attainable as long as you meet the challenge head on rather than drop your head & say "poor us."

Let me add my admiration for Coach Lechner and the H-M adminsitration for making the players adhere to the rules and holding them responsible for their actions. Too often excuses are made and consequences are not followed through on. Good luck to H-M for the rest of the season.

 What happened to these kids and the other ordinary students at Hill Murray who were caught, is a School Administration Policy. Not a MSHSL rule, but a HM rule. Regardless, its going to have a huge effect on the HM Club. As previously stated (prior to the suspensions) Tatan will win this one in a laugher... now 8-0. The Titans cheering section outta have a fun time with this one! It will be interesting to see how many HM fans come see the game on the other side of the tracks! You know...where all the bad kids go to school!

Agree with your post PPG.

In this case I truly feel bad for the players who are losing out on some of their quality teammmates. But like PPG, there comes other opportunities for players chomping at the bit to log more minutes or even just play varsity hockey.

I believe also that adversity in many cases can lead to others stepping up and leading, which I hope is the case. I'm sure the entire team is shaken up by the incident, but it doesn't end the season for them. It's January 10 and they still have approximately half a season to play before sectional play kicks in. Sure, some "prominent" players are gone, but H-M as always is capable of picking it up with the depth that they carry. They still have one of the best young goaltenders around in Shaugnessy too.

As an alum of HM, I have the utmost respect for Coach Lechner's decisions. I know he did the right thing in this case and I'm glad he did what had to be done.

My luck and wishes go out to the team during this time. Don't let it change anything! You are Hill-Murray, the defending State AA champions and a powerhouse hockey team for decades now. Keep your heads high and start focusing on your first goal from here on out: section champions!

 the 4 players HM lost had a combined 50 points. sorry no team in the country can make up for that loss. Tartan 10-0. Not sure we should allow the HM Riff Raff into the Tartan Arena, might be a bad influence on our "poor" under educated, public school kids. Lock all the doors in Oakdale, cuz the HM team limo is set to arrive in our community in 10 minutes! 8)

:D 5:30 today. Count Hill Murray as dead. Even with those players, you wouldn't beat Tartan at Tartan. I'm standing by my prediction, Tartan in a laugher over Hill.

what exactly makes Tartan magically so good they can blow HM out? You think Timmy will allow 8 goals? We have played without Alex Kelly and Kohls was non existant for some games already this year. Widing will hurt the most, and prescott can be replaced. The younger Sova and younger Phillippi can probably step up and be on Varsity now and they are both good players. Loren French may make the jump too

Timmy S!!! He's what you're banking on? He's an untested average at best, little sophmore goaltender. He has been blessed to play with above average players in front of him! Well...now he's gonna have to show that he's better than average, cuz he's lost 4 horses!!! Tartan will go low stickside on Timmy all day. Now you're bringing up JV players to fill in spots??? Sorry bud, they're on JV for a reason, not ready for the BIG SHOW! The transfer rule the state implemented last year hurt HM's depth. Now you're gonna have to go deeeeep into that daunted JV team roster to come up with some truly average hockey players to fill in. TARTAN wins!!! Bank on it!!!

HS Hockey watcher.
Then just wait the 24 hours.
Why so nosey if you can find out in 24 hours any ways.

Now go back and sit on your front porch Glasdis Gravitz

Let the school and families deal with this very difficult situation.
