Why? This forum is not restricted to Boy's Youth Hockey.....The Bone wrote:I would like to propose that we add a Girl's Youth Hockey Forum!

There is no boys youth hockey and no girls youth hockey.
There is girls hockey and youth hockey.
Separate forums - send PM or email to Lee and Mitch and they will consider it.
You should do the research for them - number of girls threads, number of posts, number of views....
and why a seperate thread is need...

Why not? Whenever anybody brings up girls youth hockey on the youth forum or on the girls high school forum they get bashed. Of course, it's easy to trash talk electronically (or hiding behind a facemask).muckandgrind wrote:Why? I'm all for it, but it probably wouldn't get much use.
The youth forum is populated by lots of parents and trash-talking players. Many boys' hockey parents are convinced their kid is the next coming of Guy Lafleur and immerse themselves in the kid's career to unhealthy levels. The trash-talking players get their egos fed by the same parents. I don't see that kind of dynamic on the girls' side. Most girls just like playing the game and don't need to discuss it outside the arena, and the parents are just happy that the girl is having fun. Just my opinion.

Really? I've never seen anyone bashed for starting a girls thread on the youth forum, any examples?....Rocket78 wrote:Why not? Why not?
While I agree that Girls hockey doesn't engender the same rabid boosterism that boys does, I don't see what the harm would be. Sometimes when discussing issues, there are very different perspectives between the two.
Hockey parents just want the best for their kid, boy or girl, and it would be great to not have to mix the two discussions when something like "Summer AAA advice needed" came up.
Hopefully it happens.

I don't think it would be unprecedented... heck, it's already been done in this community with the Junior Gold Forum. Junior Gold is nothing more than youth hockey for kids that are older than bantams.... right???
It's only fair to have one for the girls if there's one for Junior Gold.

Don't sweat the small stuff.
It's all small stuff.

After watching some of the garbage posted in the Junior Gold forum, I'm not so sure we shouldn't just nuke that forum and create a Girls' Youth forum.nickel slots wrote:I don't think it would be unprecedented... heck, it's already been done in this community with the Junior Gold Forum. I haven't touched base with Mitch on this yet, but I'm not opposed to the idea.

I suppose "bashing" is too strong of a word but... off the top of my head I can think of one recently. TBone tried to start a 10U thread on the girls high school forum and got chatised for talking youth in the HS world (even though many of the HS players are young enough for 14U). He had a similar thread on the youth forum. While ranking 10U teams is not real high on my list of priorities, I respect TBone's thread and thought that people could just choose to not respond but instead he got spanked. I don't remember if very many girls specific threads have been on this youth forum but it always seemed unwelcome to talk about girls hockey. My daughter and grand daughters are players so I for one enjoy hearing about the girl's game.muckandgrind wrote:Really? I can buy chastising someone about starting a 10U thread on a Girls HS forum...that would be like starting a Squirt or PeeWee thread on a Boys HS forum....that's what the purpose of a "Youth Hockey Forum" is!!!Rocket78 wrote:I suppose "bashing" is too strong of a word but... off the top of my head I can think of one recently. I think it's sad that forums would have to separated between boys and girls because I don't mind reading the girls hockey threads on this forum, but I probably wouldn't bother jumping on another forum to read them, though.

There are 93 topics on the front page of this forum, 5 of them (including this one) are dedicated to the girls game. 3 or 4 could be answered by either boys or girls. Of those 5 topics, they have a combined 51 replies (maybe 52 after this reply). Does that justify an entire new forum? I agree with muckandgrind, I do like to read all of the topics on this site, once I am here.
Female Youth Forum
Yes, it is a small group of users/replies etc. to this point.
However, I was thinking "Build it and they will come"

Not sure what the oposition to this is all about. I have a son in youth, a daughter in youth, and a daughter in HS. Whats another click, your allready looking at the Girls HS, Boys HS, and Youth (I have noticed you post on all of them). The reason you have the tree structure in the first place is so you can get to what your looking for faster. Cut out the noise and I would predict more traffic on girls youth side when you have a seperate forum.
