Top Uncommitted Players - Possible Destinations?

Post by money »

Good morning,

We hear about all the top players that are playing MN high school hockey and have chose where they will play college hockey in a year or two.
How about a list of players that will play @ top college hockey programs that are still on "the board" sort of speak.

Maybe some rumblings on where they may end up?

Connor Gaarder - That is my choice. Played at the U-17 Selects this summer in St Cloud. Nice player. Still hasn't made up his mind yet?

Please add...

Have a great day posters! :D

Aaron Jamnick from Hibbing would be a good addition to a division one team. He has yet to sign on anywhere and a recent article in the paper said he wants to play in the WCHA.

Gopher Blog knows which players the Gophers are scouting. I know a few players SCSU is looking at. I'm thinking that there probably aren't many seniors that will get WCHA offers before the season ends (though some will during the summer or after the start of juniors next year). There are definately some sophmores and juniors that will get offered.

If there is a senior offered, I'd guess it'll be a defenseman. There are some obvious offensive defensemen available (Berglund, Rendle, Faust, Schmitz, Palmquist, etc.) but there are some defensive defensemen that might come as a shock to some once they're offered.

Does anyone know if Zepeda, from HM, is getting looked at from anyone. I know he will probably need a year or 2 in juniors and he did play with Waterloo in the USHL before the season started. Its hard to believe a D1 program would not want a kid that has that type of playmaking ability and speed.

only thing holding him back would be his size, but a great player indeed.

Not sure what kind of interest Zepeda has gotten yet. He'll definitely need at least a year in juniors to prove he can make the big jump. His speed and talent should be enough, it's just a matter of handling the toughness aspect of the game.

Sorry if he has commited somewhere but towards the top of my list is Joe Rehkamp from Breck. Great speed and vision, a little on the smaller side though.

Does anyone think coatta has a D1 chance. He may be small but he appears at least as good and maybe better than Brandon Polich who played at CC. Any thoughts?

His star has really fallen over the years, from one of the top 90's to an above average high school player, I bet he'll go to juniors and possibly pick up an offer, but rpobably nothing this year.

I like Schmitz, I could see him playing D1 hockey after a year or two of Jr.

Sandelin from UMD was at the Hibbing/Duluth Marshall game. Also saw a scout from Mankato there, possibly looking at Mausolf(at the time) and Jamnick.

Which Faust are you talking about? Joe Faust for Jefferson is a junior, his brother is a senior but plays on the 4th line..

A few of these players are very questionable. Zach May from Burnsville could never play hockey at the D1 level.

Berley Scott - Anoka

Post by money »

Good afternoon,

In keeping with the spirit of the thread...another player pops in my mind is Berkley Scott of Anoka. The Anoka team is down this year obviously. But, Scott is rated #94 of North American skaters at the mid-year rankings. That is pretty impressive. Tons of players behind that rank that have commitment to a school. There is was an article in the Star Trib about Mr Scott and he has had to battle some academic issues but, seems like he has grown up quite a bit.

Big kid. Good skill set. Played well when I saw him play in the Elite League. Hopefully, he will have another destination to play after High School. I know Sioux Falls owns his rights as a player.

Gaarder-Edina-Part of the Superstar lineup, strong player
Taft-Edina-Good shot, good speed
Patterson-BSM-Good Playmaking, Soft Hands, Smart
Crandall-STA-One of the best passers in the state
Gaade?-Woodbury-Strong forward, Hard shot
Coatta-Tonka-Hard work ethic, Speedy
Prochno-Tonka-Quick, Solid D-man

There's a few Senior/Juniors that i have been very impressed with this year

I think Zepeda can play Division I. When and in what conference, not sure yet.

I think he has a good chance to turn a negative situation into a positive one at Hill-Murray. If he and his team turn it on and continue a great season, I think it will bode well for his skills and character.
