BSM VS EDINA
What a game this should be. A huge rivalry game after last years state semifinal overtime thriller. Benilde should be the underdog here but anything can happen in a rivalry game. Last seasons series was split 1-1 after BSM handed Edina's first loss of the season. The Red Knights are coming off a very good game, probably their best of the season, in which they outplayed a very good tonka team, beating them in a great game. When Edina is on top of their game, no one can touch them. This game promises another thriller. Tuesday at the St. Louis Park Rec Center. It should be packed and provide an excellent atmosphere.

It will be a good game but personally i dont think benilde have proven themselves yet. I was at the minnetonka and wayzata games and while it is true BSM played exceptionally well against the skippers, their performance against the trojans was an boring at best. After the benilde game i had the chance to watch the holy angels edina game which i was very impressed with the hornets performance. while meyers is an extremely proficient tender, i think edina's first line will prove to be too much. 3-1 edina.

I think that Edina will underestimate the Red Knights who have really hit their stride lately. Add to that the fact that BSM wants revenge for last years loss in the state semi-final overtime thriller and Pauly might be the best motivator in the state. I like the Red Knights in an upset with Meyers standing on his head and proving he is the best goalie in the state.

I think BSM still has a lot to prove. They have a lot of doubters. I think Pauly will use this to motivate his players. Man I wish I could be at this game. I can only imagine the adrenaline running through the players and the arena.
BSM comes from behind in the 3rd period to pull out the victory 3-2.

Roseauverrated if i were you i would get there i say 15-20 min before hand just in case i do not think it will be a sellout but just to be sure you should get their 15-20min before hand. I think that this game will be very good there are a couple of guys from last years team still on bsm's team i think they are looking for revenge. I believe if benilde plays like they played against Tonka and Meyers is red hot then they definitely got a at beating Edina it should be a good game.

If you are planning on going to the game get there early because the parking at SLP Rec Center is pretty bad. Benilde is a young team and I think that Edina will be too much for them tonight. That said, BSM goalie Meyer's seems to play his best games against great teams so this will be barn burner. Edina 4-2 with an empty netter at the end.

First of all, I would not consider BSM/Edina to be a huge rivalry. With Edina only having 8 conference games it gives them the freedom to play whoever they want and i commend them for playing a difficult schedule by choice. But to say Edina and Benilde are rivals because of a few close games recently is dumb. Sure maybe they get pumped up to play each other but that happens when any two good teams play.
Anyways...Edina is much better than BSM and the goalie can only hold them in check for so long.

Hockeyguy_27 I would agree with you in a game where Benilde would be the favorite. But I'm sure they'll have no trouble bringing their A game against Edina.
That being said, Benilde gets a solid performance from Meyers but all around inexperience bites them in this big game and Edina's cool seniors and company win by 2.

Stay Classy, Minnesota.
I don't think Edina will underestimate Benilde. Benilde did look very good against Minnetonka. They outworked them all night long and the Tonka parents I spoke to agreed. Benilde looks to have learned from the Wayzata loss. Benilde could have won 4 to 1 if their goalie had played better, so I'd be less likely to lay the outcome on him as I would the group of forwards that I thought were very good and won every race to an open puck all night long. I thought Pauly played the third line a fair amount too which is not his normal style, and they appeared to hold their own, and I thought aided in their ability to keep up the pace for the whole game. In fact, based on what I've seen, if Benilde had the Eastview goalie, they'd be undefeated. Look for a one goal game and probable overtime . Edina has a better third line so that may end up being the difference. Which team gets a plus from other than the top line could determine the outcome.JV State Champs wrote:I think that Edina will underestimate the Red Knights who have really hit their stride lately. Edina was clearly the better team tonight, but BSM didn't catch many breaks. Edina's 3rd goal was the back breaker, and it was a fluke goal: they shot it into the zone on a routine dump in play, and it deflected into the far corner off a BSM defenseman's stick. Then in the 2nd period, after BSM got their first goal, they hit the inside of the pipe twice when Edina's goalie was not in a position to make the save. That's the way hockey is sometimes.RamWarrior wrote:Edina 6 - 2
But as I said, Edina was clearly the stronger team tonight and deserved the win, but it could have and probably should have been a lot closer game than the score would indicate.
