Hill Murray 3 Sibley 2

Hill outshot them 30-6 but Sibley hung around and almost tied it at the buzzer.

I witnessed one of those wild and bizarre games last night!

Mayo 2 Faribault 1 OT

Final shots: Mayo 60 - Faribault 8
If Mayo had not won, it would have been tragic...

I don't know who was keeping shots on goal, but Faribault had to have at least 14 shots, lol. Also, there were a few scrambles in front of the Mayo net where the puck was just lying in the crease and a hard shot off the pipe.
Mayo should feel fortunate that they did come away with a win. Ref's tried to help though, calling a penalty on Fbo with 1:50 left to play after they let the teams play all night.

Always next year.

One word... Domination

Shot off post w/ one shot in 1st period for Faribault, you are going to get that; Faribault goal by girl laying on belly, hitting the puck in w/ the glove hand on ice, might want to take a look at that one in the booth...

Hard to get 6 or 14 shots when you don't see the offensive zone for 95% of the game...

Also, if Mayo hit the net, we may have seen 80-90 shots... as I have asked on this board in previous replies, we need some snipers in Rochester, shots aren't a problem...

Excellent team effort though... and Mayo graduates only two girls this year, w/ all their defense and goalies returning... yes, there is always next year...:D

Bottom line, it sounds like a suspenseful game. I also heard that the Fbo player swatted it in with her glove but of course that came from some of the Mayo parents. Maybe you need a certified referee as a goal judge (like they do in the playoffs) to help call that one cuz you can never trust a parents opinion  I think the teams all use video so would be interesting to see it. Ask the kids if they watched it. I know that Mayo won the first meeting but how did that game play out?

Can't tell if Falcon89 is calling the pipe shot a shot on goal or if he is just making a point that it coulda been a goal. For what it's worth, a pipe shot is NOT a shot on goal. Another question is - did Fbo play great defense in keeping 20-30 shots from hitting the net or do the Spartans need target practice? Not that Bonapace needs a lot of help but the JML-Mayo game is coming up and maybe the Spartans can miss the net in that game too.

It's nice to see that a city of 100,000 can put together an all-star team that can beat Fbo in OT.

Fbo graduates 0 and has a U-14A program that has some girls will add depth next year.

Good luck in Sections!!!

Eastview 4 vs Eden Prairie 1

EP was up 1-0 after 2 periods and was playing some really great hockey. Eastview scored 3 quick goals in the 3rd period and altho EP played really hard we couldn't rally back. Heartbreaking as it would have been really fun (and we almost had it) to hand Eastview their 1st conference loss. (Beat them at Kaposia but that doesn't count...dang.)

The MGHCA write-up says all three goals were shorthanded, and Eastview scored them in a span of 1:20! Looks like EP should have declined the penalties.

YUP - It was a total yard sale. We are much better on our penalty kill than our power play...go figure.

Joe - with one full round of classic sub play in now I assume... Has any team put more than 10 shots on goal against HM? Which team do you feel is the 2nd place team in the conf. as far as ability to play with a team of HM's level? I'm guessing the answers are that NSP is #2 and did put 10+ shots up against HM but after that it goes HS/SSP as a toss up for 3/4 and then the next 4 is a battle any given night (out of Maht, RF, Sim, Tar?)

I think NSP is a very good team and Sibley is also a team that on any given night could win.

The other teams are also very good just lack depth so get tired. Richfield stayed in the game 1-0, 2-0 and a final of 3-1 - they played very good zone D, had great goaltending and #4 and #12 are great players on their team.

To me Simley has been the team that has declined in the Classic. I think the rest of the group has actually improved over a year ago and some of these teams are very young and should only get better next year I think there may be more parity.

The box scores in both the Star Tribune and the MGHCA site show it as 5-3, with Rose Alleva getting a hat trick for Red Wing (two goals in the second, one in third).

I am pretty sure it was 1 in the first and 1 in the second by Ms. Alleva I know the score board was 5-2 at the end of the game.

this was also written on the coaches website.

Shakopee scored 3 first period goals enroute to a 5-2 win over host Red Wing.Nicole Anderson scored 2 goals and an assist for the Sabres, while Rose Alleva scored the 2 Red Wing goals.

I saw that too, just didn't know why the box scores would show 5-3 (usually these are more accurate than a narrative). Anyway I changed it above - others feel free to chime in if you saw it differently.

P.S. I my post above I should have said "The box scores in both the Star Tribune and the MGHCA site show it as 5-3, with Rose Alleva getting a hat trick for Red Wing (two goals in the first, one in second)".

The game was 5-2 A few typos- misinformation... Alleva had 2 goals, Anderson for Shakopee had 2, Siddorn 1, J. Menke 1g 1a, Scanlan 1g 1a, and Hespenheide 2 a, not 1 goal.
