Section Previews

Post by komada77 »

We're about half way through the season so I think it's about time we started talking about sections. Here's my predections with runners-up (runner-ups??) in parentheses.

AA
1. pathetic again...Mayo (Lakeville South)
2. Edina (Jefferson)
3. Woodbury (CDH)
4. Hill-Murray (Roseville)
5. Centennial (Maple Grove)
6. Eden Prairie (BSM)
7. East (Elk River)
8. Roseau (Moorhead)

AA
1. Owatonna is inconsistent. Mayo or South
2. Boys wearing the powder blue. time for Jefferson to get back
3. Woodburry back again
4. White Bear Lake
5. Pitlick and Centennial
6. Eden Prarie Eagles
7. Duluth East. everyone else is down this year
8. down section. Moorhead over Roseau, but this would be the year for another team to make the jump.

A
1. Lourdes over New Prague and Red Wing
2. Breck
3. terrible section. worst in the state. Hutch...
4. STA but it wont be easy with SSP, Mahtomedi and Totino
5. Hermantown
6. Little Falls over Alexandria
7. Hibbing
8. Warroad

Pathetic again? Lakeville South lost only by a point to your pick in 6 and Lakeville North lost by one to your runner up in 2. Mayo just beat Lakeville North. If they are so pathetic then why are your top picks only winning by one? Do you really watch these teams? Make your picks but your commentary is pathetic.

No team in 1AA would even get past the semis in any other AA sectin in the state. Only one team is over .500. That team, Mayo, just lost to the 14th ranked team in A, Hibbing. The combined record of all the teams in 1AA is 49-74-2. If that's not pathetic, what is?

Section 1AA is not the greatest section. the worst in AA. but Lakeville South has some impressive scores. they also beat Burnsville

Completely agree with you. My point is that when the previous post used the adjustive "pathetic" to describe that section is exreme. And has he/she pointed out that a win is still a win, just as a lost is a lost, pathetic teams would have a larger margin.

Although the Century team of 07 was good, you have to factor in the fact that whoever draws the sec 1AA team might not think they will be a good game, but yes sec 1 is weak but looking at the non conf secheduals they do play some pretty good teams and you now that underdogs will play their hearts out becuase they have nothing to lose and everything to prove, oppisite of the the city and up north schools..... Hill got stunned in 07 and Century played the champs that year pretty good, in HS hockey in march at the X anything can happen, dont say they wont win their first game

South beat Burnsville?! Impressive win because Burnsville is a solid team, right? Wrong.

When Lakeville South loses to Jefferson 10-2 they don't deserve to be CLOSE to the State Tournament.

North lost to Jefferson by only 1 but I would bet a hell of a lot of money that the next time they play the difference is Jefferson by at least 5.

No team from 1AA deserves to be in it especially since three or four teams in 2AA are better than the entire section. In fact many sections have multiple teams that would win section 1AA.

Finally someone i agree with. Every other AA section has multiple teams that would dominate in 1AA with the possible exception of 8AA. I still think either Roseau or Moorhead would walk through 1AA but that could at least be argued. And good point about Burnsville. They're 6-9 this year, so congrats to South on the big win.
