Here is why,conditioningsucks wrote: Good job Chuck. You've got Centennial about three higher than me. That should calm Fire & Ice down a little bit! I have White Bear and Moorhead a little higher, but your picks look good!
Centennial beat WBL and Minnetonka the last time they played, they tied Moorhead but the game was played mostly in Moorhead's end and their goalie was the difference. It seems they played well in Roseau. Just my thoughts

Tenoverpar, well it is always hard to forecast who will be leaving for highschool and who will stay. AV, St. Cloud and Eagan Maybe top 5 with their HS players, Elk River and Tonka would be better as well.Tenoverpar wrote:Chuck had THIS on day one...how did he do way back in September...I think decent: He did miss Rogers like everyone else though, good for Rogers for being a Cindarella of sorts.
I admit I missed the boat on some of the northern teams, and I clearly under shot with Rochester, OMG and Rogers. Hindsight is always 20/20

Now i am quoting myself, this is bad!Chuck Norris Fan wrote: 9 Edina – can be very good, but not always prepared
10 Bloomington Jefferson – beat the hornets but were out played
11 Centennial – signs of improvement here
12 Moorhead – the value of their victory over EP falls everyday
Jefferson, how can you beat Edina and then go and just get stomped by EP? All you are doing is screwing up our numbers!!!!!

Tier 1
1 Duluth East – Hands down number 1, easily handled Rogers & has only 2 losses on the season (1)
Duluth East did not handle Rogers. If you read LPH, the game was tied until just over 5 minutes left. Duluth scored on the power play and got a breakaway goal while shorthanded. The fourth goal was on an empty net.

Re: Moorhead
to be an elite team, they should have walked to the finals with Eagan, instead they didn't make it out of their division.peanutbutter wrote:looks like they didn't lose all weekend. why the poor showing.

Re: they
I think a few people are referring to Moorhead. I was at this tournament - their only blemish was a 2-2 tie with Hastings. Which ended up putting them 2nd in their pool. They went on to beat St. Cloud 4-3 in OT and then Mpls Park 3-0 for 5th place overall.rudy wrote:again, who is this "they" that people are referring to?
1st = Eagan (7-0 over Hastings)
2nd = Hastings
3rd = Burnsville (5-1 over Grand Forks)
4th = Grand Forks
This was a very well run tournament, check the website for scores and individual stats:

ConditioningSucks 1/20/09 Power Rankings
All right, all sorts of chaos this weekend in Minnesota Hockey. The rankings are gonna get adjusted, big time!
Conditioningsucks PowerRankings 1/20/09
Here it is.....Let's Play Hockey rankers take note ----this is what the real rankings are (or...CNF's are the real ones...)!
Tier 1
1 Wayzata
2 Rochester Red
3 Duluth East
4 Rogers
5 Osseo/Maple Grove
Wayzata smashes Duluth East 8-1 (bye bye #1 for the Hounds). They go on to take down Shattuck 2-1. Rochester Red takes down the Hounds 5-2 (bye bye #2 for the hounds). After playing great up north in Roseau, Rochester Red seems like they are on fire. Rogers wipes up on Blaine and Coon Rapids in District 2 games. OMG has an easy week with Hopkins, North Metro, and Armstrong Cooper. These top five still are the cream until some of the lightweights decide to pick up their game!
Tier 2
6 Eagan
7 Lakeville South
8 Edina
9 Apple Valley
10 Centennial
11 Moorhead
12 Minnetonka
13 Bloomington Jefferson
Eagan dominates St. Cloud tourney. Lakeville has not shown they are better than the six above them and still show they are vulnerable with a weak showing against Cottage Grove (but nice games against Rochester Black and Rosemount). Edina continues to play good hockey and moves up. Apple Valley wins a weak South St. Paul Tourney. Bloomington Jefferson slips with a loss to Eden Prairie. They take 2nd in South Saint Paul which, combined with their two tournament championships is still a great feather in their cap. Centennial’s only loss in the last month has been at the hands of Rochester Red….I am moving them up Fire and Ice! Moorhead slips from number 7 to 12 as they go 4-0-1 and win the St. Cloud consolation Championship. Their wins were not impressive and a tie with Hastings shows they are not close to the team that Eagan is. The Skippers get toasted by Eagan 7-3 and lull themselves to a victory over Prior Lake, 3-1.
Tier 3
14 White Bear Lake
15 Woodbury
16 Minneapolis Park
17 Burnsville
White Bear Lake drops one to Roseville (they struggle but win the rubber match). They just seem to be too up and down as a team and for now they will move into the top of Tier 3. Over the last week, Woodbury wipes up some District 8 butt by taking out Sibley, Rochester Black, and Rosemount. They play Rochester Red to a tight game but go down. Minneapolis Park cleans up on Cottage Grove, Como, and Irondale, and then heads to Saint Cloud where they easily handle Moundsview and top Bemidji 3-0. As predicted, they were unable to take down Eagan (6-2), but took second in their bracket placing them in the consoloation bracket. A win over Grafton – River Park of North Dakota placed them against Moorhead and a 3-0 defeat to the Spuds. Burnsville has nice showing, despite being in a weak bracket in Saint Cloud they walk through their bracket, beat the Grand Forks Sugarkings to advance to the Championship, where they go down to Eagan 5-0.
Tier 4
18 Chaska
19 Bemidji
20 Roseville
21 Stillwater
Bemidji drops to Eagan and Minneapolis Park before taking down Moundsview and Lakeville North. Roseville stays in the Top 20 with their win over White Bear. Chaska moves up a couple of notches with their 7-4 win over Roseville. Stillwater continues to hang on to Tier 4 with two 2-1 wins over Tartan and Highland Central as well as taking down Cottage Grove and River Heights. A loss to Roseville shows they still aren’t Top 20 material.
Tier 5
Roseau
Eden Prairie
Hastings
Grand Rapids
Elk River
East Grand Forks
North Metro
Hermantown
Anoka
Blaine
Tartan
Forest Lake
Hopkins
Hastings leaps into this group with wins over North Metro, Elk River, Grand Forks Sugarkings, and a tie of Moorhead.

Well with their recent victories over Jefferson, and WBL and Tie to Tonka, I felt comfortable moving them in the top 20 and moving out a Bemidji team that, well, has just been plain bad. There are several teams that could challenge that spot. A good week by the Eagles got them that for now.puckulence wrote:I really like looking at your ranking but I got one question. How do you have Eden Prairie in the top 20. They just got worked over in a tournament two weekends ago and they really are not that good.
Very good UNBIASED rankings.

Lost in shootouts to OMG and Minnetonka (who they outshot and outplayed), beat Roseville and Eden Prairie the last time they played. Would it be a big stretch if they were in the Top 20?conditioningsucks wrote:Lets Play Hockey has come out with their 1/22/09 rankings and they seem to be a decent blend of Chuck Norris Fan/ConditioningSucks Power Rankings.
