Edina vs Wayzata 1/22

Post by minus3db »

Edina is great, and playing well. Wayzata had a great run of 10 straight, but tripped up against Burnsville.

Edina wins this one by two or more. I think that the Wayzata is a very good team but the loss against a less then stellar Burnsville team really surprised me. Edina will win this one because of their ability to score goals. Even though there goaltending hasn't been all that great so far this year it really doesn't have to when you have all that firepower.

I didn't find it all that surprising. Burnsville had one very good line, and a well tuned power play. Wayzata had won 10 straight, coming in. Things just don't bounce your way, consistently, in hockey. The Burnsville/Wayzata game could very easily have swung in the other direction, rapidly.
I still see Wayzata bouncing back and continuing to play solidly against Edina.

Wayzata has been hot lately and are a very powerful team. If the Trojans can shut down Edina's top line it will be a very close game. This might be a wake up call for the Hornets. 8)

Not even a surprise. Ankeny is one of the most solid tendys in the league. This kid only lets in ginoes when hes feelin bad for the other team.

Everson had 4 for Edina (Gaarder had 1). Curious if anyone knows if a player has had 3 or 4 goals against a Top 10 team. Very impressive.

Curious to know why the refs thought the house was packed to see them. Bad calls on both sides and very inconsistent. Not that the Trojans didn't get there opportunities but it puts Edina at an advantage having 3 or 4 D1 hockey players on the PP. Their first 4 goals all came on the PP. Ankeny played very solid in nets and made some nice saves. 5 on 5 didn't look like a 5-0 game but you def noticed when Lee and co. stepped on the ice. Too bad would have loved to see them play even strength more would have made for a much more interesting game.

That's debatable... I'm sure he is a good goalie but the team in front of him is stellar.
