Advanced 17's

Post by thiscrazygame »

I was at the Edina/Wayzata game and heard that the National Advanced 17's had been moved from St. Cloud to New York. Anyone know if there is any truth to that?

This is indeed true. all of the boys Select camps are in Rochester, and all of the girls are in St. cloud.

based on a conversation i had with a st. cloud tournament official, the rochester set up is nice. The players have an individual, air conditioned room with a common kitchenette. It is on the campus of a Jr. college - everything is in walking distance, and if you are interested, you can also watch the national sled team tournament.
St. Cloud has no a.c. and everyone doubles up.

So your trying to tell me that I have pay for a ticket to get on a plane and pay the hotel fee to stay in New York all so the players can have some air conditioning and a flippin kitchenette?!?!

Do they have professionals tying their skates for them as well?

This is a travesty!!!

There is a greater concentration of players (and their families) in and around the northeast part of the country. Rochester allows this "greater concentration" of players to drive to the event and avoid the expensive travel costs.

You may find this hard to believe, but there is hockey outside of Minnesota.

No, wait, maybe you are right - lets have the select 17s in st.cloud, lets have the select 16s in st. cloud, the 15's are already there, and lets have ann arbor relocate their program to st. cloud as well - all for you !!

If wasn't an original idea by Johnny, it turns out Race Bannon came up with it first. 8)
